Boom Supersonic’s mission is to make the world dramatically more accessible through a renaissance in supersonic flight. Boom is developing the Symphony supersonic engine, which powers the Overture supersonic airliner and the Superpower natural gas turbine for AI. Overture will fly at twice the speed of today’s subsonic jets over water and 50% faster over land with Boomless Cruise. That success starts with our ability to find and attract the world’s best talent.

Start the Best Work of Your Career at Boom

As a Supplier Development Engineer focused on metallic fabrication, you’ll be the technical bridge between Boom and our manufacturing partners — ensuring aerospace-grade quality, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement across the supply chain. You’ll blend hands-on problem solving with high-level coordination, turning challenges into sustained performance gains.
If you thrive at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and supplier collaboration — and want to help shape the most advanced metallic supply chain in commercial aviation — this is your seat.

Role Overview
  • Represent Boom’s interests externally with people skills to lead through influence and deliver results to ensure on time delivery of components.
  • Execute detailed supplier engagement plans to ensure on-time delivery of metallic castings, forgings, machined parts, assemblies, and hardware — spanning high-temperature alloys such as Inconel 625, Inconel 718, and similar nickel-based superalloys — to support Boom’s development and production programs.
  •  Work both independently and as a key team member to prepare, execute, and evaluate plans for solving manufacturing problems and planning improvements within the supply chain.
  • Develop and refine production methods and procedures related to tooling, layout, production flow, assembly techniques, and metal-forming, machining, and joining processes.
  • Lead suppliers and internal cross-functional teams through technical problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical mentoring to suppliers and Boom teammates, helping elevate problem-solving skills across the organization.
  • Build deep, trust-based relationships with manufacturing suppliers and sub-tiers — serving as their on-site technical partner to drive build readiness, resolve issues at the source, and embed standardized root-cause and corrective-action practices that deliver sustained performance improvements.
  • Willing to travel 25%-75% often with short notice to respond to issues immediately.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Past job experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer, Supplier Development Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or similar in an Aerospace, Automotive, Robotics or similar "hardtech" industries
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects, interface directly with suppliers, and drive collaborative solutions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of metallic fabrication and inspection methods — including machining, forming, welding, metrology, GD&T and assembly of aerospace structures.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to translate complex technical findings into concise, actionable insights.
  • A track record of creating process improvements that stick.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
  • Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience supporting or launching aerospace metallic fabrication programs (e.g., structures, engine components, or precision machined parts).
  • Hands-on approach — comfortable on the factory floor diagnosing issues, verifying corrective actions, and guiding suppliers to the true root cause.
  •  Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems, NADCAP processes, and supplier process qualification.
  • Certified problem-solving or lean manufacturing expertise (Six Sigma, Shainin, or equivalent).
  • A builder’s mindset — you don’t just identify issues, you architect systems that prevent them.
