The Opportunity
The Supervisor, Financial Risk Investigations leads a team of investigators responsible for complex financial fraud investigations across multiple portfolios and payment vectors. This role ensures operational excellence, strategic alignment, and compliance with risk mitigation protocols and service level agreements for casework. The Supervisor will oversee case development, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional collaboration, while mentoring team members and driving continuous improvement in investigative practices and processes.
Day in the Life
Supervise daily operations of the Financial Risk Investigations team, ensuring timely and accurate case handling.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Manage workload distribution and prioritize high-risk investigations.
Guide the team in applying advanced analytical techniques to reduce monetary loss and improve fraud detection.
Monitor emerging fraud trends and ensure team readiness to respond effectively.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Serve as primary point of contact for escalated cases and sensitive client interactions.
Deliver high-impact presentations and reports to financial institutions and internal leadership.
Ensure consistent communication and resolution tracking via Velera’s internal ticketing system.
Identify operational gaps and lead initiatives to enhance investigative workflows.
Ensure adherence to compliance policies and documentation standards.
Partner with analytics teams to refine reporting tools and methodologies.
Participate in strategic projects and cross-departmental initiatives.
Maintain current knowledge of Velera’s products, services, and fraud systems.
Support integration of emerging technologies into investigative practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum (3) years within the financial service industry required.
Minimum (3) year professional experience in risk management and/or fraud experience required.
One (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role. CFE preferred.
