With over 3,000 employees throughout the Americas, Asia, and Europe, the firm provides support on projects of varying size and complexity. Together, we enhance conventional designs with smarter, more resilient systems. We provide people with better mobility. We steward precious resources by finding more sustainable solutions.

Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic, visionary leader to help propel our Structural Engineering practice—and broader GI Buildings platform—into its next phase of growth. This role sits at the intersection of business development, client experience, and marketing, operating as a trusted partner to senior leadership and a catalyst for strategic expansion.
The Strategic Growth Lead will work side-by-side with Sector leadership to sharpen how we position ourselves in the market, curate and lead high-impact pursuits, strengthen client relationships, and elevate our brand presence nationally and internationally. This is not a traditional marketing or BD role – it is a strategic leadership position focused on shaping who we are, how we compete, and how we win.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Positioning & Market Development

  • Develop deep knowledge of our leadership, staff capabilities, and project portfolio to inform pursuit and market strategy.
  • Help define and refine our positioning in target sectors and geographies.
  • Identify emerging markets and thought leadership opportunities aligned with our strengths and lead the prioritization of these markets to mitigate wasted effort and false starts.
  • Contribute to strategic hiring and M&A discussions

High-Impact Pursuits

  • Partner with Leadership to direct and shape marquee pursuits from early positioning (“pre-game”) through final presentation.
  • Curate pursuit teams strategically to align with client priorities. Production of the packages and collateral will be by shared services.
  • Guide development of resonant messaging, portfolio selection, and differentiating narratives.
  • Support senior leaders in crafting compelling presentations and interview strategies.

Client Experience & Relationship Building

  • Elevate our approach from strong collaborator to trusted advisor, more consistently throughout the Sector and industry. Support leadership in building deeper relationships with owners, institutions, and agencies.
  • Provide insight into how architects and design partners think, positioning us as indispensable collaborators.
  • Identify effective and powerful thought leadership platforms that elevate our team and reputation and differentiate from everyday thought leadership efforts.

Internal Leadership & Culture

  • Partner directly with Sector Leadership across North America, directly supporting Sector Managers in their market growth strategies.
  • Partner closely with Senior Manager of Client Experience and Marketing for GI Buildings to help effectuate strategy through collateral, pursuits, and team building.
  • Travel across offices to understand team strengths and foster cohesion.
  • Operate as a supportive, collaborative presence who inspires teams to think bigger and perform at a higher level.
  • Navigate and strengthen alignment between Sector-based strategy and corporate shared-service marketing structures.

Who You Are

  • A strategic thinker with deep experience in the design and architecture ecosystem.
  • Comfortable working directly with leadership on positioning, staffing, and growth strategy.
  • Experienced in building and scaling high-performing offices or practices.
  • Skilled at bridging design vision and technical delivery.
  • Energized by collaborative culture and invested in helping teams succeed.
  • Capable of thinking expansively while remaining pragmatic and supportive in execution.
  • You understand how great design firms differentiate themselves—not only through technical excellence, but through clarity of vision, intentional team building, and strategic storytelling.
