We are seeking a highly motivated Strategic Finance Engineer to help build and deliver the next generation of capabilities at Rescale!

About the Role

As a Strategic Finance Engineer at Rescale, you’ll be a foundational hire in our Strategic Finance team. You’ll own automated workflows built by the Director of Strategic Finance (who brings 8 years of coding experience in usage-based B2B SaaS), and then take them to the next level. You’ll manage pricing, forecasting, reporting, and GTM analytics, while also partnering directly with leadership to accelerate AI-enabled digital transformation across finance and operations.

This is an ideal role for someone with 3+ years of experience who is highly technical, ambitious, and eager to learn. You’ll get direct mentorship, executive visibility, and the chance to apply your technical and financial skills to some of the most critical levers of Rescale’s growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automation & AI: Extend existing automated workflows using Python + SQL and AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, LangChain/LangGraph, etc.); assist in building scalable digital-first finance processes.

  • Pricing & Deal Desk: Support pricing strategy and provide analysis for customer deals, including ROI and gross margin impact.

  • Forecasting & Reporting: Maintain and enhance automated revenue and gross margin forecasts; support monthly, quarterly, and board-level reporting.

  • Sales Capacity & ROI Modeling: Help model GTM headcount and quota plans; evaluate ROI for GTM investments.

  • GTM Analytics: Partner with Sales, Product, and Operations to measure efficiency (CAC, payback, funnel conversion) and propose improvements.

  • Data Pipeline Ownership: Build and maintain reliable data ETL pipelines that feed financial models and dashboards, following Rescale's data engineering standards.

  • Cloud Procurement Optimization: Analyze cloud spend; model scenarios to improve gross margin; recommend procurement strategies.

  • Code Quality & Review: Participate in peer code reviews for all production-grade scripts and workflows; follow Rescale's established coding standards, version control practices, and pull request processes.

  • Strategic Partnership: Work directly with the Director of Strategic Finance on AI-enabled digital transformation initiatives to modernize how finance operates at Rescale.

  • Ad hoc Strategic Analysis: Tackle urgent projects from the CFO, executive team, or GTM leadership.

Qualifications:

Must-Haves

  • Strong technical proficiency: Python, LangChain/LangGraph, and SQL.

  • Comfortable with high-precision, number-heavy work and data analysis, especially around billing, compute economics, and finance flows.

  • Curiosity and ability to quickly adopt AI tooling (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar).

  • Ability to develop working solutions interactively with AI tooling while maintaining code quality and readability standards.

  • Solid software engineering fundamentals: version control (Git), code review participation, writing clean/documented code, and basic testing practices.

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, finance, analytics, consulting, or a related field.

  • Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into actionable insights.

  • Familiarity with cloud native environments (AWS or Azure).

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with senior leaders.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in SaaS, cloud, or high-growth technology environments.

  • Exposure to pricing strategy, forecasting, or deal desk work.

  • Exposure to usage-based billing, internal accounting, or spend visibility tooling.

  • Experience building or maintaining data ETL pipelines.

  • Familiarity with BI/dashboarding tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and automated testing frameworks.

  • Experience working within an engineering team's development workflows (e.g., pull requests, sprint cycles, engineering RFCs).

  • Strong presentation skills; ability to support board-level materials.

What Success Looks Like
  • You’ve taken ownership of automated workflows and expanded them to cover new areas.

  • Forecasting, pricing, and reporting outputs are accurate, automated, and actionable.

  • Deal desk requests are answered quickly with clear, data-driven recommendations.

  • Leadership relies on your analyses to guide GTM and procurement decisions.

  • You’ve played a key role in AI-enabled transformation of finance at Rescale, building scalable digital-first processes.

  • Your code and pipelines meet Rescale's engineering standards - documented, reviewed, version controlled, and maintainable by others on the team.

Why Rescale
  • Direct mentorship: Learn from the Director of Strategic Finance, who has 8 years of coding experience at usage-based B2B SaaS companies.

  • High impact: Gain executive visibility with the CFO and leadership team; shape company strategy from day one.

  • Cutting-edge workflows: Work on finance systems already automated and extend them using AI and modern tooling.

  • Career acceleration: Exposure to pricing, forecasting, GTM strategy, cloud procurement, and board-level reporting.

  • Collaborative culture: Partner with Sales, Product, Operations, and executives on critical initiatives.
