Location: Northeast
An overview of this roleAs a Strategic Account Executive for our Enterprise Financial Services segment, you'll drive GitLab's growth by helping leading banking, insurance, payments, and fintech organizations across the Northeast adopt, implement, and expand their use of our AI-powered DevSecOps platform. You'll focus on large, regulated enterprise accounts, guiding customers through complex digital, cloud, and DevSecOps transformations in highly compliant environments while driving pipeline generation that translates into measurable Net ARR and long-term expansion. In this role, you'll use your understanding of the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD automation, secure development practices, and infrastructure modernization, to act as a key connector between financial services stakeholders and GitLab's field organization so GitLab is seen as a trusted, long-term partner across the full sales cycle. In your first year, you'll be expected to build a strong financial services portfolio across your territory, create repeatable sales motions tailored to industry regulations and compliance requirements, and consistently forecast and report on deal progress and account health.
What you'll do
- Support and grow GitLab’s largest and most strategic Financial Services prospects and customers across your Northeast territory, focusing on organizations that can benefit from our AI-powered DevSecOps platform in a regulated environment.
- Drive the full enterprise sales cycle, from prospecting and pipeline generation through qualification, evaluation, negotiation, and close within large, complex Financial Services accounts.
- Provide hands-on account leadership and direction throughout the pre- and post-sales process to ensure a smooth customer experience and strong adoption of GitLab.
- Partner closely with Sales Development Representatives, Solutions Architects, Customer Success, and strategic channel partners to generate qualified opportunities, co-sell, and execute account strategies that drive new business and expansion within Financial Services.
- Develop and maintain detailed account plans for priority Banking, Insurance, Payments, and FinTech customers, including opportunity mapping, stakeholder alignment, and multi-threaded engagement based on each customer’s business, security, and compliance needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate the involvement of cross-functional GitLab team members, including sales leadership, marketing, product, and support, to progress opportunities and deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Prepare activity and forecast reports, contribute to forecasting and pipeline reviews, and share root cause analysis and lessons learned from wins and losses with account managers, marketing, and technical teams.
- Act as the voice of the customer by contributing product ideas to our public issue tracker, preparing and delivering customer-facing and internal presentations, quotes, proposals, and formal sales documents that address Financial Services business challenges and clearly communicate long-term value and outcomes.
What you'll bring
- Experience driving complex B2B software sales cycles with enterprise customers, ideally in DevSecOps, software development tools, or adjacent SaaS solutions that support the software development lifecycle.
- Background selling into large, strategic enterprise accounts in the Financial Services industry (such as Banking, Insurance, Payments, or FinTech), with the ability to build trusted C-level and senior stakeholder relationships across business, risk, security, and technology teams.
- Understanding of Financial Services business models, regulatory environments, and compliance requirements (for example SOX, PCI-DSS, GLBA, OCC), and the ability to connect GitLab’s value to customer priorities in security, risk management, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to drive new business acquisition and expansion within enterprise Financial Services accounts through consultative, multi-stakeholder sales motions that lead to sustainable, long-term customer partnerships.
- Experience collaborating with channel and strategic partners to generate pipeline, co-sell, and support successful adoption of GitLab within regulated environments.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead account strategy, influence internal and external stakeholders, and work under minimal supervision on complex opportunities.
- A true desire to see customers realize value from their investment with GitLab, with strong account management discipline, the ability to use GitLab in your daily work, and willingness to travel as needed while following company travel policies.
