About the Role:
The Strategic Account Director, Benefit Solutions is responsible for the strategic oversight and long-term success of employer partnerships. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to employer clients, with accountability for ensuring satisfaction, retention, and growth of key relationships. The Strategic Account Executive will identify opportunities to broaden the organization’s support and value to each employer, aligning solutions that enhance benefit effectiveness, member experience, and cost efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings 8 or more years of client relationship management experience within benefits administration, with a strong understanding of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) operations, plan design, and claims processing. This role requires strategic thinking, consultative communication, and a deep commitment to delivering measurable value for employer clients.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of clients, ensuring satisfaction, performance, and long-term partnership success.
Develop a deep understanding of each client’s benefits strategy, workforce demographics, and business objectives to align organizational solutions accordingly.
Lead regular strategic reviews with employers, or business partners, to assess performance, share insights, and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Identify opportunities to expand the organization’s role and value across employer accounts through new products, services, and program enhancements.
Collaborate with internal teams to design tailored recommendations that improve outcomes, cost management, and employee engagement.
Support the development of renewal strategies and contribute to retention and expansion initiatives.
Partner closely with internal operations, and implementation teams to ensure flawless delivery of services and support for each employer.
Oversee resolution of escalated issues, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed to prevent recurrence.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of account management processes and reporting practices.
Apply a strong understanding of PBM operations, and claims administration to support employer decision-making.
Translate complex pharmacy and benefit data into actionable insights for clients.
Stay current on pharmacy trends, pricing strategies, and benefit design innovations to provide proactive recommendations.
Act as a strategic advisor to HR, finance, and benefits leaders within employer organizations.
Present performance updates, clinical outcomes, and program analyses in a clear and compelling manner.
Partner with leadership and marketing teams to support employer communications and educational initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
12+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field required, or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; advanced degree preferred.
8+ years of experience in client relationship management, account management, or consulting within benefits administration, PBM, or healthcare sectors.
Proven ability to manage complex relationships and influence executive stakeholders.
Strong understanding of pharmacy benefits, and claims processing workflows.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical ability to interpret and communicate data-driven insights.
Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office or related tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and follow-through.
Client-focused with a consultative and solution-oriented mindset.
Strategic thinker who anticipates client needs and identifies growth opportunities.
Collaborative team player who works effectively across departments.
Highly professional, credible, and adaptable in executive-level interactions.
