As a member of the Steam Power Services Fossil Americas segment ITR finance team, you will provide finance leadership and oversight to support the strategic initiatives of the business in the Americas (Total region ~$450M in revenue and orders). In this leadership role, you will serve as a strategic partner to the Fossil business operations team. You will collaborate with segment leadership, the sub-region Service Directors, fulfillment, and the project management organization to ensure execution is in line with customer and company expectations, drive profitable growth, and manage company risk effectively. Your efforts will focus on daily management, continuous improvement, and transformative initiatives.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Fossil Americas East ITR director, ITR Americas Finance leader, services and commercial leadership, and project teams to enhance commercial and operational focus, thereby facilitating timely decision-making and optimizing both short-term and long-term financial performance.
  • Serves as the strategic business partner to the Fossil Services Executive leader, sub-region Service Directors, and Project Directors. Your focus will be to optimize financials (P&L, Cash) while identifying potential operational risks and opportunities within the portfolio to deliver better than the as sold performance, engaging with business partners to escalate as required.
  • Lead the development and implementation of operating plans with the business teams to drive clarity, facilitate decision making with speed, growth, and margin expansion outcomes.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the pacing case to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Optimize cash metrics, including billing linearity, on-time collections, past due reduction initiatives, and disbursement maintenance.
  • Drive the financial reconciliation component of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, fulfillment, services, and finance, to develop and execute a unified plan that supports business objectives. Analyze data to forecast demand accurately, identify potential risks, and propose solutions to improve efficiency and responsiveness. Facilitate continuous improvement in the planning process to leverage S&OP to produce quarterly forecasts, budget outlooks, and long-range strategic forecasts.
  • Provide country or contract specific knowledge to evaluate deal economics, risk profiles, and progress deals towards commercial closure.
  • Collaborate with the commercial, operations, and fulfillment teams on settlements, change orders, liquidated damages, and cost of poor quality to attain targeted economic and financial outcomes.
  • Utilize business analytics, such as as-sold versus as-executed/quarterly project reviews/NCR data, to drive continuous improvement and inform the segment team of potential optimization opportunities.
  • Actively participate in project handover reviews from commercial to operations, including T&C clarifications, project setup & performance obligations, payment security, hedging evaluation, etc..
  • Partner with FP&A to own the financial submissions for all planning cycles, pacing, and monthly operating rhythms. Lead pacing and forecasting updates with the business teams and Operations Finance.
  • Collaborate closely and maintain ultimate responsibility for the output of Project Operations Finance on key processes, including pacing and forecasting, long-term financial planning, project margin reviews, closing activities, and accounting.
  • Ensure adherence to monthly closing activities, aligning results with business expectations while proactively identifying potential risk areas.
  • Prepare and support presentations required to communicate the Fossil segment’s financial position and progress towards strategic, operational, and financial objectives to Steam Power, Gas Power, and GE Vernova/Corporate.
  • Drive LEAN activities within the function and support business transformation initiatives. Partner across the finance community and with other functions to support the implementation of strategic priorities, linking to commercial & operational value streams, and facilitating simplification.
  • Maintain systems and processes for analyzing and reporting operating results to management, collaborating with IT to drive system automation and optimize processes as needed
  • Lead the pursuit of excellence in controllership (spirit & letter, adherence to GEV policies, regulatory compliance, audit support, transfer of best practices, internal controls, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • If hired outside of the U.S. -  Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college, or related discipline, and significant years of relevant Accounting or Finance experience within the power generation or relevant industry. 
  • Strong technical finance acumen, including in-depth knowledge of US GAAP accounting, controllership principles, financial reporting, and analysis
  • Experience in Commercial Finance and Service projects with practical experience in ASC606 Revenue Recognition Standards
  • Proven ability to lead and influence dispersed teams, providing clear direction, actively communicating and ensuring consistent performance
  • Solid understanding of key operational disciplines, including project management & planning, sourcing, contract management, engineering, construction & commissioning, tax and legal
