This position is primarily remote, with occasional visits to a local office or our corporate headquarters for team-building, training, and collaborative project work. These on-site sessions are designed to strengthen connections, share insights, and ensure a seamless experience for our team and customers. Equipment pick-up from a local branch will be required. We will  provide advance notice whenever on-site attendance is required, making these times purposeful and rewarding.

Position Overview: The Threat Hunter at Sunrun will proactively identify, investigate, and mitigate advanced cybersecurity threats that evade traditional detection mechanisms. You will use your expertise in threat intelligence and security analytics to uncover hidden threats, enhance the organization’s security posture, and prevent future breaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct proactive threat hunting activities to identify advanced persistent threats (APTs) and indicators of compromise (IOCs).

  • Analyze large datasets from various security tools and platforms to detect anomalous behavior and suspicious activities.

  • Develop and execute threat hunting methodologies, leveraging threat intelligence feeds and security analytics.

  • Collaborate with security operations and incident response teams to investigate and respond to identified threats.

  • Document findings, provide detailed analysis, and recommend remediation actions.

  • Continuously improve threat hunting processes and share knowledge with security teams.

  • Stay current on evolving threat landscapes, techniques, and tactics used by adversaries.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years focused on threat hunting or security analytics.

  • Deep understanding of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.

  • Proficiency with security analysis tools such as SIEMs (e.g., Splunk, Elastic), EDR solutions, and threat intelligence platforms.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis techniques and tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Elasticsearch).

  • Familiarity with incident response processes and tools.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly.

  • Certifications (preferred): GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or related certifications.

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

150,290.60 to 180,348.72

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, based on both company and individual performance, as well as short- and long-term incentives and program-specific awards. Compensation decisions will not be based on a candidate's salary history. Please note: Employee benefits do not apply to our Fusion and Street Sales roles, which are 100% commission-based, (1099-NEC) positions.
