Role
We are looking for a seasoned Staff Software Engineer to join our IT Cloud Engineering team. This is a hybrid role located in Crystal City, VA, reporting to the Director, Integration and Automation. You will be a key driver in designing and developing back-end applications and services using Java Stacks and cloud-native technologies. This mission-critical role requires maintaining a Top Secret Security Clearance and the flexibility to provide 24x7 coverage from a SCIF, including night and holiday shifts.
What you’ll do (Role Expectations)
Design and develop back-end applications and services using Java Stacks and cloud-native technologies
Deliver scalable, highly available, and performant solutions in AWS or similar cloud platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into design, solutions, development, and support
Support and troubleshoot provisioning and production issues while isolating application-specific constraints
Partner with Federal customers to create secure solutions aligned with FedRAMP and cloud compliance needs

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
Professional programming experience with a strong focus on Java Stacks including Core Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
Experience designing, developing, and deploying applications in AWS or other public cloud environments
Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and messaging systems like Kafka or SQS
U.S. citizenship with an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance
Ability to work onsite in a SCIF and support a 24x7 shift rotation including nights and holidays
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience navigating government certifications such as FedRAMP and Impact Level compliance
Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
