Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role
The Square Banking team is on a mission to solve the top reason small businesses fail: cash flow challenges. Despite their critical role in the economy, small businesses are systematically underserved by traditional banks. Square Banking is changing this by making it radically easier to open an account, access capital, and manage money.
As the Staff Product Manager for Square Banking, you will lead our strategic initiative to make Square Banking the obvious cash flow home for Square sellers. You'll dramatically increase the number of sellers who use Square Banking products by thinking deeply about how to solve their cash flow needs.
You will:
  • Own and drive Square Banking's north star metric of banking attach rate
  • Lead the strategy and execution of new feature development and ecosystem integrations
  • Build and execute a multi-product growth strategy across Square's checking, savings, and lending products
  • Drive alignment across multiple organizations including Risk, Identity, Growth, and Banking teams to create a remarkable customer experience
  • Partner without bank partners to evolve our customer identification and onboarding approaches
  • Use data to deeply understand conversion drivers and develop experimental frameworks to systematically improve acquisition and activation metrics
  • Influence key stakeholders throughout Block to align objectives, resources, and prioritization across multiple organizations
  • Lead multiple engineering teams across different domains while maintaining high quality standards
  • Coach and mentor other PMs in the organization

You have:
  • 12+ years of product management experience
  • Track record of leading complex, multi-quarter initiatives that span multiple organizations
  • Experience scaling financial products and driving significant user growth
  • Strong technical background with ability to lead architectural discussions about complex financial systems
  • Excellence in stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership
  • Deep understanding of financial services regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with risk management in regulated environments
