About the teamThe IAM Control Plane team’s mission is to empower Stripe users to easily and securely manage their access to Stripe products and data. As part of Stripe's Organizations and Auth Platform, we own the platform for API keys, user roles, and access auditing, ensuring the right people have the keys to the kingdom-and no one else.
We are a growing team of 6 engineers with an ambitious roadmap, blending deep platform work with direct product impact.
What you’ll doYou will design, build, and maintain the critical systems that control our user’s access to Stripe.
Responsibilities- Design and build the next generation of IAM primitives to securely power AI-driven agentic experiences on Stripe.
- Develop new user-facing permission models, including custom roles and granular access controls.
- Architect and implement platform features like Account Groups to simplify access management for large organizations.
- Own and operate mission-critical, highly-available backend services that are fundamental to every Stripe user's experience.
- Work across the stack to ship end-to-end features, from API design and database modeling to the occasional frontend component.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes as well as mentor team members.

Minimum requirements- 10+ Years in software development.
- A high bar for engineering quality and a passion for building resilient, scalable distributed systems.
- Experience designing, building, and operating backend services in a professional environment.
- The ability to navigate ambiguity and solve complex problems with a product-minded approach.
- Proficiency in a modern backend language such as Go, Ruby, Java, or similar.
- Mentor engineers at all levels, supporting their professional growth and technical leadership development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and design teams to define product strategy and user experience.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM), authentication, or authorization systems.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies like React and TypeScript.
- Experience working on developer platforms or infrastructure.
