Role Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely GAAP financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
- Maintain master chart of accounts and ensure accurate coding for all payments
- Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepaids, amortizations, and reclasses.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly and investigate variances.
- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and cost management meetings with cost centers
- Maintain supporting schedules including fixed assets, deferred rent, and prepaid expenses.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Support AP processing including invoice coding, vendor setup, and payment runs.
- Monitor AP aging and assist with vendor inquiries.
- Assist with AR processes including billing and cash receipts.
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Assist with month-end close tasks per close calendar including preparation of detailed supporting schedules for all material items.
- Ensure journal entries and reconciliations are completed timely and accurate.
- Support annual audit preparation.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Create and manage process flow charts for all material processes in areas of O2C, P2P and R2R activities to ensure proper internal controls
- Maintain organized documentation for audit support.
- Assist in improving accounting processes and controls.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Highly proficient in Excel.
- Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or NetSuite.
Preferred
- Experience in biotech, medical device, or technology companies.
- Familiarity with cloud-based finance tools.
Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 Annually
The annual base salary range for this position based in the United States is listed above. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on Magnus' compensation practices, job related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, in addition to geographic location. Based on the factors above, Magnus utilizes the full width of the range.
