As a Staff Accountant, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our financial foundation through supporting month-end close, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. STAFF ACCOUNTANTYou’ll play a vital part in supporting the financial health of our organization through a wide range of accounting responsibilities including accounts payable, receivables, payroll, and monthly close activities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both detail-oriented work and cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll work closely with teams across the company to ensure accurate reporting, maintain compliance, and help build scalable financial processes as we continue to grow. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your accounting expertise within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:Accounts Payable (AP)
- Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner using NetSuite.
- Ensure appropriate approval workflows and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare bi-monthly check runs, ACH payments, and credit card reconciliations.
- Maintain vendor records, respond to inquiries, and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage the AP inbox and act as a liaison for vendor billing questions.
- Prepare annual 1099 reporting and maintain vendor documentation.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Generate and distribute customer invoices for products and services.
- Post cash receipts and apply payments to customer accounts.
- Monitor aging reports and follow up with customers on past-due balances.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
- Support credit checks and assist with collections as needed.
Payroll
- Process payroll, ensuring accuracy of hours, salaries, bonuses, and deductions.
- Administer payroll taxes and employee benefit deductions in coordination with HR.
- Process 401(k) contributions and ensure timely fundings.
- Partner with the payroll provider to confirm all filings are accurate and up to date.
- Maintain accurate employee records and assist with year-end W-2 reporting.
General Accounting
- Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Help maintain and improve internal controls, documentation, and accounting procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, including AP, AR, and payroll.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and the full accounting cycle.
- Proficiency with NetSuite, Bill.com, Expensify, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working cross-functionally.
What can Mission Bio offer you?
The base salary for this role is between $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience.
