The Licensed Senior Training Specialist position resides in our Development & Operational Effectiveness department at Thrivent.
This role helps the business area achieve its operational goals by managing the design, development, and delivery of learning and development solutions and performance support tools and platforms.
This role conducts ongoing evaluations to ensure effectiveness of programs and recommends modifications as necessary.
This is the most senior skill level without supervisory responsibility and may provide functional advice or training to less experienced training employees.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and project-manage cross functional resource teams to plan, design, develop, and implement platforms and tools that provide performance support and learning in the flow of work.
- Support efforts to redesign courses and develop modules that leverage flipped classroom and blended learning approaches and incorporate virtual in-person, eLearning, and video modalities.
- Develop and conduct complex training programs in response to organizational needs. Facilitate classroom, remote, and train-the-trainer programs. Analyze employee training needs and develop appropriate new programs and materials.
- Design effective blended training solutions which are job-based, learner-centered, organized, accurate, practical and sustainable.
- Provide instructional design consultation and coaching for subject matter experts who are engaged in training development activities.
- Produce robust and sustainable blended training curriculum.
- Develop programs that may take the forms of digital eBooks, eLearning and video modules, self-directed modules, classroom materials (participant guide, facilitator guide, presentations, etc.) and coaching tools.
- Assign and monitor training programs, assess results, and implement enhancements as needed.
- Establish and enforce standards for brand compliance, style, and templates.
- Bring to the organization new and innovative classroom and development processes and technology to provide a world-class training experience; take the initiative to drive change and constant improvements to the current programs.
- Provide functional advice and direction to associates within training organization.
- Manage fiscal aspects of training including ROI of programs and meeting budget standards.
- Balance between instructional design rigor and quality with the cost, time and resource constraints of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
- Series 6 & 63 required or obtained within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, curriculum development or the equivalent in related experience required.
- LMS experience, preferably as administrator
- Must display superior verbal, written, presentation and facilitation skills (instructor-led and virtual)
- Self-directed with strong problem solving, project management, organization and time management skills.
- Excellent leadership skills, ability to inspire and motivate others to perform well
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience working with and influencing employees and management at all levels in the enterprise
- Prefer knowledge of Thrivent’s insurance and/or investment and/or banking products.
- Prefer experience in a call center environment.

- Master’s degree preferred
