You will play a critical role in ensuring long‑term product robustness by driving reliability testing strategies, executing stress and qualification testing, and partnering with cross‑functional teams to identify and mitigate reliability risks early in the product lifecycle. This is a hands‑on, lab‑focused role with strong ownership of test capability, reliability methodology, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Develop and sustain optical product test capabilities with a strong focus on reliability and lifetime validation
- Define and execute test plans for pluggable optics and optical sub‑assemblies, including environmental, thermal, mechanical, and stress testing
- Perform validation testing to assess product robustness, degradation mechanisms, and failure modes
- Drive accelerated lifetime and qualification testing activities where applicable
- Collaborate with hardware, photonics, firmware, and mechanical teams to influence design‑for‑reliability and testability
- Lead failure analysis and root‑cause investigations for reliability, performance, and yield‑related issues
- Analyze reliability and test data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for design or process improvement
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by validating reliability readiness for manufacturing release
- Develop and maintain detailed test procedures, reliability reports, and capability
You have:
- PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related technical field.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of optical communication systems and fundamentals.
- Familiarity with reliability testing concepts, including environmental stress testing.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and system-level issues.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools (JMP, SQL).
- Experience with Vb.net or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.
- Prior experience with pluggable optical transceivers and optical sub-assemblies is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Experience with pluggable optical transceivers and optical sub‑assemblies
- Experience in product validation, test, or reliability engineering roles
- Practical experience with accelerated life testing, burn‑in, or qualification testing
- Familiarity with automated test systems and test data analysis techniques
- Experience supporting manufacturing validation or production reliability issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
