What success looks like in this role:
Implementation & Administration:
o Design and Implement Database Solutions: Develop and deploy database solutions that meet business requirements and ensure scalability.
o Database Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain database systems, ensuring they are optimized for performance and reliability.
o Ongoing Administration: Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patches.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
o Monitor Database Performance: Continuously monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement.
o Optimize Queries and Indexes: Analyze and optimize SQL queries and indexes to enhance database efficiency.
o Capacity Planning: Plan and manage database capacity to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
Disaster Recovery:
o Develop and Implement Backup Strategies: Create and maintain comprehensive backup strategies to ensure data protection.
o Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of data loss or system failure.
o Regular Testing: Conduct regular tests of backup and recovery procedures to ensure they are effective and reliable.
Security & Compliance:
o Ensure Data Security: Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access and breaches.
o Compliance with Policies: Ensure database systems comply with data retention, privacy, and security policies.
o Manage Access Controls: Configure and manage access controls to ensure that only authorized users have access to the database.
Leadership & Collaboration:
o Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and mentor to junior staff.
o Lead Database-related projects and participate in cross-functional initiatives.
o Engage with vendors and service providers for support, upgrades, and procurement.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
o Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
o 12+ years of experience in Enterprise Database administration.
o Expert-level knowledge of RDBMS (SQLSERVER PostgreSQL etc)
o Strong hands-on experience in at least any of the two database platforms like Microsoft SQL
o Proficiency in AWS / Azure Database Skills
o Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, Shell) and automation tools.
o Knowledge of data replication and high availability technologies.
o Experience with Data migration strategies and tools.
o Solid understanding of data lifecycle management, data retention, and compliance requirements.
o Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
o Excellent communication and documentation skills.
o Demonstrates an authoritative and professional manner in verbal, written and telephone communications.
o Adheres to procedures, maintains records and demonstrates commitment to solving user problems.
o Demonstrates a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving.
o Strong customer interface skills communication & ability to deliver presentation drive meetings.
o Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment, work effectively under high pressure and growth mode.
Focus is on SQL Server Administration: Deployment automation, version upgrades, cross‑environment migrations, performance tuning, backup/restore strategy, AlwaysOn/Failover Cluster management, and incident troubleshooting.
