About the Role:
Brevity if looking for a Sr. Software Engineer - Team Lead who will start as an individual contributor in order to learn the architecture and stack, ship new features, and get familiarized with the product and team. Gradually, you will own more of the architecture and delivery process and assume more leadership of the team.

Brevity is a venture-backed, seed-stage startup based in Minneapolis, MN. We offer AI-driven SaaS solutions to Fortune 500s and Mid-Market firms to improve their revenue performance by coaching BD, Sales, CS, management, etc. in the development of enterprise conversational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, test, and deploy product features across our stack:
- AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres (RDS), Redis, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB
- Python/Django, React, Tailwind / Material-UI
- Integrations with our subprocessors (see https://trust.brevitypitch.com)
- Evolve system architecture for performance, reliability, security, and economy, as usage grows 10x over the next 12mos.
- Drive engineering best practices, e.g. code review, automated testing, observability, CI/CD.
- Gradually – mentor and manage the engineering team: run daily standups, resolve blockers, run architectural design reviews, manage delivery dates, identify areas for improvement, deliver feedback.
- Estimate and communicate delivery timelines to Product, CS, Sales.
- Monitor and resolve production outages & incidents, security vulnerabilities, and SOC 2 compliance requirements.
- Provide technical support to CS & Sales as needed.
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and defining our engineering culture.
Required Qualifications:
- Recent experience (last 2 yrs) as a Lead Software Engineer in an early-stage, high-growth, fast-paced Startup team.
- In the last 6mos: Shipped your own PRs
- Back-End and Front-End microservices, integrated with Cloud Services
- Ideally: Python/Django, React, AWS, Kubernetes, RDS/Postgres, Redis or Elasticache, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB
- NOTE: This will be a core discussion point during interviews
- 3+ years leading Enterprise SaaS application development.
- Excellent communication: Can run an Architectural Design Review or a Product Roadmap Update with business stakeholders.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading development of conversational AI products.
- Experience scaling an engineering team from seed through Series-B.
- Familiar with SOC 2 requirements.
