Summary / Objective
As a Senior Software Engineer at name.com, you will be a key member of our team, a dependable and responsible performer who takes on increasing responsibilities across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). In this role, you tackle diverse and complex challenges, applying expert-level coding, design, and development skills to lead innovative, large-scale projects within your Scrum team. Trusted for your sound judgment and technical expertise, you contribute to evolving technology choices, best practices, and processes while partnering with Product Management and other teams to deliver holistic solutions.
This role reports to the Manager, Software Engineer.
What You'll Do
  • Design, research, and implement technical solutions to meet business requirements
  • Drive the evolution of our technical strategy, best practices, and technology stack by researching, proposing, and implementing new solutions
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, and multiply the team's effectiveness through code reviews, technical guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment
  • Provide technical leadership by anticipating challenges, making key architectural and design decisions, and shaping the direction of large-scale projects and services
  • Listen to and guide technical debates to help the team reach a consensus, then clearly communicate and back that decision
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of large, complex, and high-quality systems and products.
  • Work with product and other engineering teams to define API contracts and ensure the consistency and quality of our API ecosystem
  • Efficiently break down and solve complex technical problems, identify and mitigate risks, and debug challenging issues across the stack
  • Proactively identify and take ownership of important technical issues, coordinating with other teams to drive them to resolution
  • Seek empirical evidence to support technical decisions through proofs of concept, tests, and external research
  • Regularly consider the effects of the team's choices on non-functional requirements (NFRs)
  • May be called upon to be or assist as a Scrum Master
  • Consistently model Identity Digital Values in all interactions and decisions
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are / What You Bring
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Professional experience with modern PHP frameworks, particularly Laravel, is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Vue.js is preferred
  • Experience in migrating legacy frontend or backend codebases to Laravel/Vue.js is a plus
  • Broad professional experience with SQL databases (e.g., MySQL)
  • Extensive experience in designing and building secure RESTful APIs
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD and containerization, is a strong asset
  • A mindset of automation and a desire to improve the development lifecycle for the entire team
  • Proactive in identifying and communicating issues with requirements (lack of clarity, inconsistencies, technical limitations) to help course-correct
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work across time zones as part of a global organization as needed
  • Reliable transportation to the workplace

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Salary Range
The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000 - $160,000 plus benefits as described below. In addition, the successful candidate will be eligible to receive other compensation from time to time in the form of discretionary and/or nondiscretionary bonuses and long-term incentive plan. Actual compensation will be influenced by a candidate's qualifications, internal employee equity considerations, and location. We will not ask for information about a candidate's current or past compensation for purposes of developing an offer of employment.
US team members (and their spouses, domestic partners, and/or dependent children) are covered by generously subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance which includes company contributions to a Health Savings Accounts. Team members are also covered by company-paid life and disability insurance and have the option of participating in employee-paid supplemental life, accidental death and dismemberment, critical illness, and accident insurance. In addition, team members can enroll in the company's 401(k) plan with up to a 5% match. You receive 15 days of paid vacation yearly, increasing to 20 days after one year. Additionally, you get 5 days of paid sick leave, 13 paid holidays, and 20 weeks of paid parental leave for birthing parents, 12 weeks for others. Also, there's an opportunity for tuition reimbursement for qualifying expenses.
