This position is primarily remote, with occasional visits to a local office or our corporate headquarters for team-building, training, and collaborative project work. These on-site sessions are designed to strengthen connections, share insights, and ensure a seamless experience for our team and customers. Equipment pick-up from a local branch will be required. Overview
We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team and serve as the primary administrator for our Tableau Cloud environment. You will be a critical part of our data and analytics team, responsible for maintaining our data platform's health and ensuring our systems run smoothly. This includes managing and evolving our Tableau Cloud instance and maintaining automated jobs via Python and Google Apps Script, assisting with designing and implementing data observability tests, and assisting with data engineering work.
Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate a strong sense of ownership who consistently applies software and data engineering principles to business contexts. You will proactively identify inefficiencies in existing systems, define and lead projects, and deliver solutions through active collaboration with business partners.
Responsibilities
Tableau Cloud Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for our Tableau Cloud environment. This includes managing users, permissions, sites, and projects. You'll ensure the platform is secure, reliable, and performant for all users.
Automations: Maintain and troubleshoot existing automations written in Python and Google Apps Script used for automation, such as user permissioning and data-related tasks.
Data Quality and Observability: Collaborate with the data engineering team to write and analyze data observability tests and troubleshoot data quality issues.
Data Platform Support: Assist with the general health and maintenance of our data platforms, including dbt and Snowflake. You may be asked to take on data engineering tasks to support our team and business partners.
User Enablement: Assist with our established office hours and bi-weekly data analyst calls to provide support and guidance to our business users and analysts. This includes helping them understand how to use our data platforms, find the right data, and build effective dashboards and reports.
Qualifications
Experience: 4+ years of experience working as a Tableau administrator, business intelligence analyst, or in a similar data-focused role.
Tableau Expertise: Proven experience as a Tableau Administrator, including managing a Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud environment. You should have a deep understanding of permissions, governance, and site administration.
SQL Proficiency: Strong experience with SQL is essential. Experience with Snowflake is highly desirable.
Programming Skills: Experience with a programming language (ex: Python) is required. Experience with Google Apps Script is a plus. You should be able to read, understand, and debug existing code.
Data Engineering Fundamentals: Familiarity with concepts of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data pipelines. Experience with dbt is a plus.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and curious mindset.
Bonus
Experience using various flavors of databases (eg: Snowflake, BigQuery, Postgres, MongoDB, Oracle, Dynamodb, etc.)
Familiarity with data governance and data catalog tools.
Experience using Git version control, including branching, merging/rebasing, and pull requests.
Experience in Agile/SCRUM Software Development Processes
Experience with ERP and CRM systems (eg: Oracle, Salesforce).
