Realtor.com’s News & Insights is seeking an experienced photo editor to support its content efforts, and who has proven experience in a fast-paced newsroom. The team covers a range of topics, including trends, real estate news, unique homes, advice, and celebrity homes.
This position requires the photo editor to work across all platforms, with a skill set that includes having a solid understanding of licensing requirements, be adept at thoughtful and deep research, working with wire and other agencies, commissioning photographers, and creating basic graphics.
This is the ideal role for someone who has strong coordination skills, is proactive, creative, and can set a new standard through visual storytelling.
The role reports to the VP, Editorial and Content, and will be based in New York City.
What you’ll do:
- Set the creative vision for Realtor.com’s editorial content
- Oversee and approve all visual storytelling across editorial content, ensuring creative quality and consistency with the Realtor.com brand
- Collaborate with editors and journalists to executive innovative visual storytelling and generate original ideas.
- Edit and curate thoughtful visual content for web, app, social media and distribution partners
- Maintain organized records of licensing agreements, permissions, MLS agreements and restrictions, and image credits.
- Familiarity with stock/wire image services and best practices for rights management.
- Ensure all sourced images align with photo quality standards and editorial guidelines.

What you’ll bring:
- 10+ years of experience working in either a newsroom or editorial brand that has a strong focus on editorial content
- Relationships with photographers, agencies, and other sources, including Realtors
- Advanced knowledge of photo editing and production skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

The quoted salary range represents our good-faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect in the listed locations. We tailor our offers based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, location, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process. All ranges are location-based, ranges for positions in other locations may vary based on the local market.
Salary Range for select office locations
- New York: $95,000.00 - $135,000.00
Pay-for-performance is a key element in our strategy to attract, engage, and motivate talented people to do their best work. Accordingly, offers extended for this role will include an annual bonus target typically expressed as a percentage of salary. Similarly to salary, annual incentive bonus targets are set based on a variety of factors, including job level, competitive market practice, experience, tenure, and essential skills.
