Position Summary
As a Sr. Motion Designer within our Marketing Studio, you will apply your passion for motion design to solve challenging design problems and elevate the quality of our motion systems across all of Yahoo’s suite of products, including News, Mail, Sports, Finance, and beyond. Reporting to the Motion Lead, you will collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team to craft and implement smart and cohesive motion design that spans Yahoo's diverse portfolio.
In your role you will be designing and developing motion graphics for a wide range of marketing channels, from digital and social media to events and more. You will be responsible for bringing visuals and narratives to life through your expert knowledge of animation principles, your proficiency with motion design and video editing tools, and your ability to lead complex projects. Your passion for the craft and your inquisitive nature will be pivotal in elevating the bar, delivering impactful content that differentiates Yahoo in the market.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation: Develop and lead motion graphics for brand campaigns, digital content, and event spaces.
Collaboration: Work closely with creative directors, producers, designers, and client teams to ensure strong, cohesive outputs.
Trend Integration & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and leverage cutting-edge motion design techniques, tools, and technologies to continuously push creative boundaries and set Yahoo’s marketing campaigns apart.
Brand Stewardship: Uphold Yahoo’s brand guidelines in all motion design work, ensuring consistency and relevance in visual storytelling across all platforms.
Project Oversight: Lead the development of motion design assets from concept through execution, ensuring deliverables meet project goals, deadlines, and quality standards.
What We're Looking For
8+ years of experience in motion design, with a portfolio showcasing creativity, strategic thinking, and high-quality execution across various media and marketing channels.
Strong design and branding skills, with a portfolio that showcases large-scale or high-visibility motion work.
Must showcase strong design sensibilities and have a thorough understanding of composition, color, and typography.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Cinema 4D. (HTML5 and Rive are a plus.)
Expertise in motion design principles, animation, video editing, and storytelling techniques, with the ability to elevate brand messaging.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Showcases the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, delivering top-tier work.
Ability to stay current with motion design trends, particularly those emerging from social platforms, and apply them to enhance Yahoo’s marketing efforts.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, combined with a passion for visual storytelling and innovation.
Ability to actively participate in creative brainstorming sessions, storyboarding, and concept development. Must be a strategic thinker who understands motion as an integral and purposeful part of holistic design solutions.
A strong point of view and the ability to communicate motion design concepts to non-motion designers.
Responds well to creative direction and feedback, iterating quickly and thoughtfully to deliver refined, high-quality motion assets.
Self-starter mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Comfortable working remotely and in a fast-moving production environment.

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 - $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
