About the Role:
CrowdStrike is seeking a senior communications leader with deep cybersecurity incident response expertise to establish and lead our Incident Response (IR) Communications practice. This role provides front-line strategic messaging, media relations, and reputational guidance during active, high-profile incident response (IR) engagements, helping customers manage reputational risk with the same speed and precision as our technical teams.
This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a dedicated IR Communications capability inside CrowdStrike. The right leader will shape how CrowdStrike supports customers through the most critical moments of a cyber crisis, working at the center of technical response, executive decision-making, and public scrutiny.
This Director will serve as the lead communications advisor on high-stakes engagements, working directly with customer C-suite executives, external advisors, and key internal stakeholders. The role requires sound judgment, credibility with senior leaders, and the ability to operate calmly and decisively in fast-moving situations.
This role sits within the Communications Department and partners directly with CrowdStrike Services leadership, and other cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do:
Define and own the global strategy, protocols, and best practices for Incident Response Communications across the Services portfolio.
Serve as a senior communications advisor to customer executive leadership (e.g., CEOs, CISOs, GCs, CIOs, CCOs) during critical cybersecurity incidents.
Provide direct advisory support during active incident response engagements, including ransomware attacks, nation-state intrusions, and other high-profile cybersecurity events.
Lead development of external communications for customers, translating complex forensic findings into clear, executive-level messaging for global media and stakeholders.
Manage relationships with crisis communications firms and coordinate with external counsel to ensure aligned and effective client support.
Build and scale the IR Communications program, including development of standardized materials such as media statements, executive playbooks, and stakeholder engagement frameworks.
What You’ll Need:
12+ years of progressive experience in crisis communications, including direct, hands-on involvement in live cybersecurity incident response engagements.
Experience at a leading global communications firm or in a high-stakes corporate environment with significant executive advisory responsibility.
Strong technical understanding of cybersecurity, digital forensics processes, and the global technology media landscape.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex technical and legal issues into clear, actionable executive counsel under pressure.
Demonstrated ability to lead high-pressure communications efforts involving global stakeholders and complex legal and regulatory considerations.
Credibility and presence with senior executives, with experience advising on public disclosure decisions and regulator-facing communications during cybersecurity incidents.
This role has a global remit. Candidates based in the Eastern Time Zone are preferred to align with operational needs.
