In Fortune Brands Innovation, Inc. We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Mexico Customs Operations to lead and manage all aspects of our customs functions across Mexico. This role is critical in ensuring full compliance with USMCA, IMMEX, Annex 24, OEA, and other Mexican customs regulations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in HTS classification, import/export operations, reconciliation, and duty drawback processes, as well as a strong background in maquila operations and customs system implementation. This role requires frequent coordination with U.S. corporate leadership and travel throughout Mexico and the U.S.

This position may be based in our Mexico locations in Matamoros, Tamaulipas; Nogales, Sonora or Monterrey, Nuevo León. Candidates should be open to be relocated to any on those locations.

Job Description

  • Lead and manage customs operations across multiple sites in Mexico.
  • Ensure compliance with IMMEX, USMCA, Annex 24, OEA, and other applicable customs regulations.
  • Oversee accurate HTS classification and import/export procedures.
  • Manage the reconciliation and duty drawback processes.
  • Implement and optimize customs software solutions to support regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with maquila operations teams to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain regular communication with U.S. corporate management to align customs operations with strategic goals.
  • Support and oversee customs audits at both state and federal levels.
  • Manage intra-Mexico and LATAM shipments from a customs compliance perspective.
  • Lead and mentor a team of customs professionals, ensuring continuous development and high performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and regulatory changes affecting customs operations.
  • Travel within Mexico and to the U.S. as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in customs operations, with at least 5 years managing maquila operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • HTS classification
    • Import/export processes
    • Reconciliation and duty drawback procedures
    • IMMEX, USMCA, Annex 24, and OEA regulations
  • Proven experience complying with customs audits and working with government agencies.
  • Familiarity with intra-Mexico and LATAM shipping practices from a customs perspective.
  • Experience implementing or using customs software programs (USMCA/GTM knowledge a plus).
  • Understanding of maquila operations is essential.
  • Customs brokerage license is a plus, but not required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Mexico and to the U.S.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish fluency required
