Position Summary:
The Sr. Manager of Channel Events leads the development, execution, and optimization of Channel and Marketing event programs aimed at enabling partners to effectively promote and sell our vendors' cloud solutions. This role is responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction of channel events, managing the Channel Events team, and overseeing the full event lifecycle—from planning and budgeting to performance analysis and reporting. They ensure all events align with budget guidelines and organizational objectives, focusing on maximizing impact and ROI.
The Sr. Manager also plays a critical role in relationship management, building and nurturing strong partnerships with external vendors, partners, and key internal stakeholders across cross-functional teams. This collaborative approach ensures alignment on goals and seamless execution of initiatives that drive business growth and partner engagement.
Essential Responsibilities and Percentage of Time Spent (includes, but is not limited to):
Event Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, production, and execution of channel-sponsored events, including external events, conferences, segment-based sales events, partner events, and vendor events. Oversee logistics for 2-10 events monthly to ensure they meet objectives related to partner engagement and brand presence. (25%)
Partner and Vendor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with partners, Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Value-Added Resellers (VARs), vendors, and industry associations. Identify new partners, sponsors, and vendors aligned with company goals, audience, and event themes to expand reach and drive engagement. (15%)
Event Strategy and Logistics: Develop and implement event strategies focused on brand awareness, partner activation, and lead generation. Conduct research and manage all logistics and planning to ensure events deliver on goals and provide a high-quality experience for all stakeholders. (15%)
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with sales, marketing, and corporate teams to align event strategies with broader business objectives. Oversee stakeholder interactions and reporting to ensure that all event activities support company goals and cross-functional initiatives. (15%)
Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor the Channel Events team, providing onboarding, coaching, and performance management. Support professional development and facilitate team expansion efforts in global markets to increase impact and reach. (10%)
Budget and Resource Oversight: Oversee the department budget, ensuring that events are delivered within financial guidelines. Manage event logistics, planning, and coordination to maximize cost-efficiency and ensure alignment with organizational goals. (10%)
Process Improvement: Partner with the Senior Director of Channel Programs & Events to identify and implement process improvements, streamlining workflows to enhance team effectiveness and operational efficiency). (10%)
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
- Experience: Progressive experience in event management, including logistics, production, brand execution, and team leadership. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, high-impact events for channel partners or within a similar industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills with project management, CRM, and event platforms, including Wrike, Salesforce, Power BI, SharePoint, Excel, Word, Cvent, and PowerPoint. Ability to integrate analytics and reporting tools to assess event impact and align activities with organizational objectives.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptionally organized, with a proven track record in managing complex projects from concept through execution. Strong prioritization and multitasking abilities to handle multiple events simultaneously without compromising quality.
- Communication and Collaboration: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to effectively engage and manage internal and external stakeholders, build strong relationships, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
- Strategic and Creative Thinking: Highly motivated and results-driven, with a focus on strategic planning and creative problem-solving. Skilled in navigating obstacles and proactively identifying innovative solutions that drive event success.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments, with team management experience, including coaching, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: A resourceful, creative thinker who excels at overcoming challenges and implementing efficient processes. Adaptable and solution-oriented in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Required Education & Certifications:
- B.A./B.S. in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $105,000 to $130,000 or more depending on experience.
