Position Overview
As a Senior Systems Engineer – IT Operations, you will be a key contributor to the stability, scalability, and performance of enterprise systems and services across Hunter Douglas. This role is heavily focused on operational excellence, proactive monitoring, automation, and service delivery, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, ITIL alignment, and customer support.
What you'll do
Operational Systems Management
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications and infrastructure by proactively monitoring and maintaining:
- Microsoft 365 services (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Entra ID)
- Jira Service Management (JSM), Confluence, and ITSM platforms
- SolarWinds, OpsGenie, and StatusPage
- Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and IT Asset Management
- Custom-built employee support portals and self-service tools
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventative actions for system outages or performance degradation.
ITIL-Based Service Delivery
- Manage core ITIL processes including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Request Fulfillment.
- Maintain SLA performance and support metrics through a structured ticketing system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
- Serve as an escalation point for Tier 2/3 issues and ensure timely resolution and documentation.
Automation & Process Optimization
- Identify operational inefficiencies and develop automation to streamline system maintenance, onboarding/offboarding, patching, and backup workflows using:
- PowerShell or Python
- Microsoft Graph API, Webhooks, and custom integrations
- Build and maintain dashboards and automated alerts using monitoring tools to improve system uptime and incident response.
Systems Infrastructure Operations
- Support deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of:
- Windows Server, Linux, and VMware vSphere environments
- Endpoint management with tools like Intune, Autopilot, and traditional AD Group Policy
- Implement and manage server patching automation, operating system baselines, and software distribution.
End-User Support & Portal Management
- Maintain and enhance employee-facing tools including the IT support portal, service catalog, and live chat, ensuring high usability and availability.
- Provide remote desktop support, manage user access, and troubleshoot performance issues across desktops, laptops, and virtual machines.
Documentation, Training, and Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain detailed system and process documentation, SOPs, and KB articles in platforms like Confluence.
- Collaborate with helpdesk and operations teams to deliver technical training and ensure proper knowledge transfer.
- Submit monthly operational performance reports to leadership.
Collaboration & Cross-Team Integration
- Work closely with the LAN/networking, cybersecurity, and application development teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and alignment with organizational goals.
- Act as a liaison between IT Operations and business stakeholders to align service delivery with user needs.

Who you are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in IT systems engineering with a focus on operations and support.
- Deep understanding of ITIL practices and operational workflows.
- Strong experience with:
- Microsoft 365 Administration
- ITSM tools (Jira Service Management, ServiceNow)
- Monitoring tools (SolarWinds, OpsGenie, or similar)
- Automation scripting (PowerShell, Python)
- Familiarity with virtualization (VMware), Windows/Linux server environments, and enterprise endpoint support.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL v4 certification
- Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, M365 Modern Desktop Admin)
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Experience managing hybrid environments (on-prem + Azure/AWS)
