This role will be a critical leader leading,  designing and delivering a holistic, human-centered people strategy that attracts, retains, and engages world-class talent to drive Sunrun's mission. This individual will lead a high-performing team across all People Operations, Compensation, Benefits, and the Data & Analytics functions. As a key partner to the Executive Leadership Team, this role will own and evolve our total rewards philosophy and compensation-related interactions with the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate has a strategic command of total rewards and people operations, coupled with executive compensation expertise, exceptional analytical rigor, and the ability to guide and influence stakeholders with confidence.

Total Rewards Strategy & Execution

  • Compensation: Drive the design, implementation, and administration of all compensation programs, including salary structures, incentive plans, and team member recognition. Lead the annual compensation cycle, including benchmarking, merit increases, and equity grants.

  • Executive Compensation & Board Engagement: Own the preparation of Compensation Committee materials and provide strategic counsel to the executive team and board on equity programs, pay-for-performance, and market competitiveness.

  • Benefits & Wellness: Lead the strategic design and administration of our benefits and wellbeing programs, ensuring they are competitive, inclusive, and supportive of a diverse employee population. Lead the annual open enrollment process and oversee vendor partnerships and compliance to optimize costs and the employee experience.

People Operations & Compliance

  • Operational Excellence: Lead and mentor the People Operations team to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across all HR systems and processes

  • HRIS Optimization: Act as a key partner for HRIS system strategy and functionality, ensuring our technology supports the efficient execution of People Team initiatives.

  • Compliance & Governance: Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure full compliance with public company disclosure requirements, audits, and all federal, state, and local regulations governing compensation, benefits, and employment.

People Data & Analytics

  • Data-Driven Insights: Build and maintain robust people analytics to support transparency and data-driven decisions for leadership across all People functions.

  • Metrics & Reporting: Own key metrics and reporting to measure the effectiveness and ROI of our total rewards programs and overall people strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards and People Operations, including executive compensation leadership in a publicly traded company.

  • Experience directly supporting Compensation Committees and engaging with board-level stakeholders.

  • Deep knowledge of compensation structures (base, bonus, equity), benefits programs, HRIS systems (e.g., Workday)

  • Familiarity with SEC regulations, proxy disclosure, and CD&A reporting.

  • Strong analytical, modeling, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights for both executives and employees.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CCP, CBP) are highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders, and lead through influence in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

$189,184.09 to $252,245.45
