The Role
At Yahoo, we operate thousands of services at a global scale, reaching hundreds of millions of people around the world. Our internal developer platform powers these services and lets our developers build rapidly, securely, and with high quality. We are looking for a motivated Director of Engineering who can set the vision and deliver a delightful developer experience for one or more of our platform verticals. In this role, you will partner with engineering leaders across all of Yahoo to find ways to accelerate business delivery and customer success.
Responsibilities
Deliver innovative platform solutions that reduce cognitive load, save costs, and improve the performance and reliability of engineering systems across the company
Work closely with engineering teams across the company to deliver a delightful developer experience
Identify business problems and translate them into engineering solutions
Manage the platform as a product, working backwards from customer needs
Manage multiple squads of software engineers building within one of our platform verticals
Build a world-class team by hiring, developing, and retaining top talent
Be an engineering culture champion, fostering teams with empathy and collaboration
Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
10+ years of experience in software development
5+ years of experience managing teams, with at least 2 years as a manager of managers
2+ years building developer tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of modern cloud services and architectural patterns

The compensation for this position ranges from $180,310.00 - $392,430.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
