Role Overview:

The Sr. Director, SEO & GEO Innovation is a critical new role designed to sit at the intersection of traditional search optimization (SEO) and generative experience optimization (GEO).  This leader will spearhead the agency's efforts to position brands at the forefront of user discovery within large language models (LLMs), generative AI outputs (GEOs), and agentic solutions across diverse platforms like Amazon’s Rufus, Perplexity, Claude, Google’s AI Overviews, Bing’s Co-Pilot, et al. 

The successful candidate will develop innovative tracking, optimization, and enablement strategies to ensure brands achieve visibility and influence within these emerging discovery environments. This role will lead the continuous review & optimization of our existing Organic Search Optimization practice, while being tasked with guiding the broader organic search team across the chasm from SEO to GEO (AI Search). Further, it is expected that you will go beyond the realm of traditional SEO mechanism accounting for intervention methods across the open web, social platforms, affiliate channels, and video ecosystems. A strong understanding of measurement solutions with be critical to succeeding in this role as we account for understanding the value of organic discovery with zero-click queries increasing, and application of causal inference to uncover the hierarchy of methods & interventions for ranking/inclusion within LLM outputs.

Responsibilities:

Generative Experience Strategy

  • Define the vision for how AI-enabled search & discovery solutions are incorporated into consumer experiences. Share this vision through presentations, white papers and internal conversations across teams at Tinuiti. 

  • Define and execute cutting-edge strategies to integrate brand visibility into AI-driven environments, ensuring relevance and positive sentiment in LLM outputs and GEOs.

  • Innovate through developing a vision for productized solutions that enable our delivery teams to be more efficient, and provide clients with consistent quality of delivery. 

  • Collaborate with agency leadership to align AI search initiatives with the organization’s innovation goals and client priorities.

Optimization & Enablement Across Platforms

  • Partner with product team to develop methodologies to track and optimize performance in LLM and GEO environments, enhancing discoverability and user engagement.

  • Lead the implementation of cross-platform strategies, including search engines, e-commerce platforms, and content networks.

Measurement & Analytics Innovation

  • Partner with product team or 3rd party vendors to design frameworks to quantify the impact of AI search interventions, combining web analytics, sentiment analysis, and performance metrics to showcase the value of various interventions and standardize our recommendations for clients.

  • Determine technical solutions and partner selection for LLM & GEO tracking and query exploration. 

  • Partner with the data science team to develop predictive models that guide optimizations and inform campaign strategies.

Client & Industry Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to high-profile clients, providing strategic insights and actionable recommendations to enhance their AI search presence.

  • Represent the agency as a thought leader at conferences, panels, and industry events, positioning the agency as a pioneer in AI search strategy.

Solution Design

  • Assessing product/market fit for existing solutions delivered by our SEO team, and making adjustments to better align with the needs of our clients, including the development of novel workflows, increasing automation and LLM-aided outputs. 

  • Development of novel GEO solutions and curation of sales content to guide clients towards optimizing within novel mediums of discovery. 

Team Development & Collaboration

  • Build and lead a high-performing team specializing in SEO, AI search optimization, and generative AI strategy.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation and continuous learning, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of industry advancements.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in SEO or relevant digital marketing fields with a focus on experimental calibration for optimizing platform outcomes. 

  • Deep understanding of the underlying technical infrastructure of LLMs and an ability to educate non-technical stakeholders on the fundamentals. 

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) techniques utilized by LLMs for outputs and statistical modeling. 

  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of driving innovation and managing cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical mindset with experience in data-driven decision-making and measurement frameworks.

Compensation:

The hiring salary range for this role is $145,000 - $165,000 plus performance bonus up to 15%. Hiring salaries are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, parity with other team members, and alignment with market data. We will provide more information on our benefits, incentive pay, and equity upon request. Disclosure as required by the Colorado Equal Pay for > Equal Work Act, C.R.S. § 8-5-101 et seq.
