Location & Work Model

Candidates must be able to travel to the Greater Toronto Area. This role will begin remotely and transition to a hybrid work model once our Toronto office opens.

Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Sales will lead Samyang Canada’s Sales and Strategy departments. This role is critical to unlocking the company’s largest near‑term revenue opportunity by driving velocity, horizontal growth, and innovation-led growth. The ideal candidate is a commercially sharp, execution-oriented sales leader with documented success leading departments and hitting sales targets.  Deep retailer expertise and a strong track record of accelerating innovative product assortments in fast-moving CPG categories will be necessary for this role to succeed. The successful candidate will be capable of guiding the sales organization through periods of rapid growth and sustainable year over year planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead national account teams to ensure success with national retail grocery chains and additional priority channels. 

  • Deliver volume growth, distribution expansion, shelf optimization, promotional excellence, and P&L management

  • Lead new SKU rollouts, innovation launches, and seasonal program execution across key retailers. 

  • Oversee key trade negotiations, joint business planning, promotional planning, and category review cycles. 

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality in-store execution aligned with brand, shopper, and merchandising strategies. 

  • Be the senior partner with cross-functional teams to improve retailer-specific insights, reporting, and forecasting accuracy. 

  • Identify and secure incremental opportunities across on sales channels. 

  • Maintain best-in-class retailer engagement through proactive communication, business reviews, and data-driven storytelling.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience within CPG or FMCG sales 

  • Direct experience managing the teams who handle Costco, Walmart, Loblaws, Metro, and/or Sobeys at the national level. 

  • Demonstrated success building and managing high performing teams 

  • Strong understanding of trade strategy, category management, and promotional planning. 

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. 

  • Data-driven mindset with capability to interpret POS, panel, and retail execution insights. 

  • Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environments.

  • Willingness to travel within the territory as needed (30-40%)

Preferred:

  • Experience working in CPG foods, with particular focus on instant noodles, pasta, or other high-velocity grocery categories. 

  • Deep retailer savvy—understanding operational nuances, decision-making rhythms, and omni-channel levers. 

  • Commercially sharp with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for results. 

  • High execution orientation with the ability to translate strategy into measurable, in-store impact. 

  • Strategic, collaborative, and comfortable influencing cross-functional and retailer partners. 

  • Proactive problem-solver with strong organization, communication, and prioritization skills.
