Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Sr. Director, Retirement and Wealth Operations will report to the Executive Director, Business Operations. This role is responsible for leading several functions within the SDIRA Operations function, including those accountable for:

  • Core SDIRA operations service teams, of Pods, related to the efficient management of Real Estate, Private Equity, Private Debt, Account Services, Deposits, Distribution, Asset Admin, and Specialty Operations across multiple administrative platforms.
  • Fund Custody service and business
  • 1031-Exchange Operations
  • Budget oversight, workforce adherence to planning
  • Operational Efficiencies and metrics


The position has multiple direct reports that are leaders for the respective functional teams. This position's primary responsibility is ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and effectiveness of all SDIRA Operations Functions. Working with the management team, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of policies and procedures, process improvement, quality and volume monitoring and reporting, hiring, and performance management. The Senior Director will develop and implement a strategic roadmap for SDIRA Operational activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recognize and reward employees that demonstrate the Values
  • Define strategy, and service level agreements (SLAs) to align with overall Company and department initiatives
  • Identify market trends and determine opportunities to improve current processes
  • Lead team organizational structure design
  • Appropriately assign all tasks related to the teams and ensure completion within established service levels
  • Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams by designing, implementing, and continuously improving processes
  • Assist in the development, revision, implementation and monitoring of department policies and procedures with emphasis on internal controls and risk assessments
  • Gather supporting documentation and responses for internal and external audits
  • Provide daily guidance to direct reports for special situations/exception processing
  • Facilitate team training regularly to review procedural and product knowledge
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere within the team and with other internal departments
  • Prepare and review semi-annual and annual performance evaluations for all department employees
  • Prepare and manage the department budget in coordination with the ELT and Executive Director
  • Manage related external vendor and service provider relationships to maintain access to high service levels and latest features
  • Other duties as assigned.


[Supervisory Responsibilities:]

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.


Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services operations
  • 5-7 years of leadership experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field
  • CISP preferred


Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, delegate and motivate staff
  • Be proactive, analytical, and able to problem-solve and propose resolutions with staff and external clients
  • Clear ability to develop and monitor efficient, timely and accurate processes
  • Proven ability to multi-task, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate the highest degree of honesty and integrity
  • Detail oriented, organized, and dependable
  • Working knowledge Self Directed IRAs and alternative assets required
  • Comprehensive understanding of IRA rules and regulations related to alternative assets and Fund Custody requirements preferred
  • A strong working knowledge of tax reporting requirements for IRAs and taxable accounts preferred
  • Strong computer aptitude with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficient with Microsoft SharePoint application and Salesforce Service Cloud preferred


Other Requirements:

  • Infrequent travel (5%)
    • Ability to provide personal transportation from time to time
  • Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
