Position Overview:

The Director/Sr. Director of Market Research and Business Analytics leads the function that provides primary research, CI, forecasting, broad business analytic services and other capabilities to drive strategy and business insights that will define our go-to-market approach as well as evaluating execution and ongoing strategy. The purpose of this role is to serve as an expert on brand performance, market dynamics and future opportunities. He/she will accomplish this through their skills for transforming data into clear and actionable insight. This position works closely with Brand Teams, New Product Commercialization, Business Development, and other stakeholders to support strategic and tactical decision-making through the delivery of market research and analytics data that informs key issues and customer needs. As a member of the Commercial Leadership Team, the incumbent will participate in the ongoing development of the company’s commercial capabilities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Uses comprehensive understanding of the competition at the corporate, franchise, and brand level to inform the development of long-term strategies and company-wide insight-based decisions
  • Utilizing insights derived from Market Research, Business Analytics and Competitive Intelligence, the successful candidate will work to increase shareholder value by providing counsel and consulting to C level executives on current business and future opportunities
  • Leads, challenges and champions forecasts and CI recommendations
  • Champions the use of advanced analytics in evidence-based decision making to influence the business
  • Challenges Status Quo with the mindset of disrupting business as usual
  • Leverages an in-depth understanding of managed care as a customer to inform data based decisions for managed care strategy
  • Leads and enables a high-performance team to:
    • Uncover insights and opportunities from market research, CI, and business analytics
    • Incorporate those insights into the strategic planning and decision making processes carried out by Brand Teams and Alliance Partners, New Product Commercialization, Business Development, and other stakeholders 
  • Manage action plans and service level agreements with internal customers and outside vendors, mobilize resources in order to meet business needs and balance workload
  • Accountable for development and execution of annual marketing research and business analytic plans and associated annual budget, and for managing expenses within those approved budgets
  • Architects close collaboration between the company and alliance partners, promoting and facilitating the exchange of business and marketing intelligence
  • Collaborates closely with the Commercial Leadership Team to create a culture that represents a competitive advantage in the marketplace 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • 12+ years of management experience with a proven track record of leading cross functional teams
  • 15+ years Market Research and Business Analytics experience with a broad range of market research primary and secondary research methods (qualitative, quantitative, primary and secondary, health care professional and consumer, etc.) as well as forecasting, CI and advanced business analytics is required
  • Serve as strategic partner to the commercial leadership team
  • Knowledge of key pharmaceutical industry data sources (e.g., IMS)

Compensation Overview:

The anticipated annual salary range for this role at Director level is $210,000 to $270,000, and at Sr. Director level is $240,000 to $330,000.  These are the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.  The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include – but are not limited to – the final job level offered, the type and length of experience within the job and industry, relevant education, qualifications, skills, certifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.

The hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant in the form of stock options.

  • All Prothena employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, and vision insurance, with Prothena paying ~90% of plan premiums. 
  • Prothena pays the full premium for basic life and disability insurance for all employees.  
  • Prothena employees are also eligible to enroll in our Company’s 401(k) plan and are always 100% vested in their account balances.  The 401(k) plan provides for a quarterly, non-discretionary, 3% company-paid contribution on eligible earnings, as well as an additional, annual discretionary Company match of up to 2% of eligible earnings.  
  • New Prothena employees are also eligible for 17 days of paid vacation accrued over the course of the first year of employment, paid sick time in accordance with state law, and company-paid holidays – which includes a Company-wide shutdown at the winter holidays.
