A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that build loyalty and traveler satisfaction.

The Experience Platform organization builds and operates foundational capabilities that power customer experiences across Expedia Group, including experience platform services, web and app infrastructure, content management systems, design systems, shared building blocks, and configurable platform capabilities. Other Expedia engineering and product teams rely on these capabilities as internal customers.


We are seeking a strategic and technically credible leader to modernize the Experience Platform for the AI era and help Expedia Group build a fast, intelligent, configurable, and easy-to-use platform for travel.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a globally distributed organization of approximately 130 employees across Seattle, Chicago, London, Brisbane, and remote locations.
  • Establish modern, high-quality platform engineering practices that improve the experience of internal developers and product teams.
  • Guide the evolution of experience platform services, web and app infrastructure, CMS technologies, design systems, and configurable platform capabilities.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Architect and senior technology leaders to influence technical direction and execute enterprise architecture decisions.
  • Elevate leadership capability, strengthen engineering practices, and introduce innovative approaches to a technically mature organization.
  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Product, Architecture, and other Expedia Group functions.
  • Challenge existing assumptions constructively and lead meaningful modernization rather than incremental improvement.
  • Attract, develop, and retain a diverse organization of engineering and program management talent.

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • Extensive experience leading large-scale engineering or platform organizations.
  • Experience operating with a platform mindset, treating internal developers and product teams as customers.
  • Proven experience with experience platforms, commerce platforms, design systems, CMS technologies, configurable platforms, or developer platforms.
  • Strong technical credibility, including the ability to engage deeply in platform architecture and enterprise technology decisions.
  • A record of scaling engineering organizations while combining strategic vision with strong execution.
  • Proficient communication, collaboration, and cross-functional influence skills.

Preferred

  • Experience modernizing platforms within a large-scale technology, commerce, marketplace, media, or travel organization.
  • Experience partnering peer-to-peer with chief architects or equivalent senior technical leaders.
  • Experience introducing modern engineering practices within established, high-tenure organizations.


The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $296,000.00 to $414,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $473,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $278,500.00 to $390,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $445,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
