Orion Innovation is a premier, award-winning, global business and technology services firm.  Orion delivers game-changing business transformation and product development rooted in digital strategy, experience design, and engineering, with a unique combination of agility, scale, and maturity.  We work with a wide range of clients across many industries including financial services, professional services, telecommunications and media, consumer products, automotive, industrial automation, professional sports and entertainment, life sciences, ecommerce, and education.

About the role:

We’re hiring a Senior Cloud Architect with strong engineering fundamentals and a bias for building. You’ll lead the design of new solutions, technical implementation and integration of new platforms and services, and guide the migration of legacy applications to modern platforms. You’ll work hands-on and collaborate closely with development teams and business stakeholders, while also working independently as needed. You don’t need to be an AI power user on day one - you do need the curiosity and discipline to learn and apply AI responsibly to speed up delivery and raise quality.

What you’ll do:

  • Take ownership of delivering technical solution designs across various types of projects, both internal and external/client facing
  • Interface directly with business stakeholders, engineering, and compliance teams to translate requirements into architecture patterns and solution designs
  • Ensure solution designs and patterns are properly documented in architecture diagrams and design documents
  • Work hands-on to deliver working environments, overcome roadblocks, and ensure the success of engineering teams
  • Research emerging technologies and develop implementation standards and best practices
  • Create proof of concepts to prove out design recommendations
  • Review work products and mentor other team members

What we’re looking for:

  • Track record of delivering scalable, production-ready, cloud-first solution designs built on Microsoft Azure, Fabric, and M365 technologies
  • Experience delivering working solutions incorporating AI concepts and technologies (Microsoft Foundry, agentic frameworks, RAG, etc.)
  • Experience with containerization technologies (AKS, Azure Container Apps, Istio, image management, etc.)
  • Understanding of Windows and Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL) administration fundamentals
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IT Security, networking, software development, and infrastructure deployment methodologies and industry best practices
  • Experience with Microsoft and Azure data platforms including Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Bricks, Azure Synapse, SQL Server, DocumentDB, and Azure Data Factory
  • Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority
  • 15+ years of professional experience with a strong background in network and/or system administration, software development, information security or related disciplines: you know from experience what good design looks like.
  • Evidence of technical leadership through design influence, driving architecture standards, or improving solution delivery practices.
  • A pattern of continuous learning and adapting to new tools and platforms.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security.
  • Experience with Terraform for IaC.
  • Familiarity with Python or PowerShell for scripting and automation.

What We Value:

We do not expect you to know everything, but we expect you to know how to learn anything, and for you to be as comfortable explaining complex technologies to stakeholders as you are sketching solution designs or troubleshooting a production incident.
