We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer who will design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and platform capabilities. This role combines strong backend engineering with hands-on involvement in release readiness, production deployment, monitoring, and cross-team coordination. You will contribute to high-impact technical decisions, maintain engineering excellence, and help drive smooth, reliable release cycles.
Role Summary
Seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable backend services for enterprise-grade platforms. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL, along with exposure to distributed systems and production-scale applications.
The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance backend solutions that support critical business workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices supporting high-volume transactions.
- Implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
- Design schemas, optimize queries, and manage data using PostgreSQL.
- Ensure application performance, scalability, resilience, and security.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product owners, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end features.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
Required Skills & Experience: Java, Springboot, Kafka, Database/Cache (Postgres, Redis or any other)
- 7+ plus years of software development in enterprise / web / cloud applications
- 3+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies. Have track record developing in AWS or GCP or Azure or similar public cloud environments
- Independently design and develop cloud scalable services in a containerized and CI/CD environment
- Have strong foundational knowledge of software engineering best practices - including good coding standards, solid functional and unit testing, source control management.
- Collaborate in solving problems, platform issues and perform root cause analysis to proactively resolve product and operational issues
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Compensation, Benefits and Duration
Minimum Compensation: USD 40,000
Maximum Compensation: USD 140,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.

This position is available for independent contractors
