This position will provide internal sales support for four Sales Directors with our Government/Public sector Retirement Solutions team.

This preference for this role would be to work a hybrid in-office schedule (3-4 days per week) out of our Columbus, OH location, but remote candidates will be considered depending upon the candidate pool.

Job Description Summary

Our Internal Sales & Service (ISS) team works with Financial Professional to provide the right Nationwide products to people who need and want them. We count on our team members to represent Nationwide well in this important market and have a real desire to connect and help our customers.
As a Senior Analyst, you’ll build and retain strategic relationships with financial professionals, administrators and/or plan sponsors and participants (clients) through advising and consulting to drive the business unit sales goals. You’ll have opportunities to partner with multiple contact points across the sales process.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiates daily contacts to targeted business partners to build relationships, discover needs where products and services apply and to consult and advise based on their clients’ needs.  

  • Develops and grows strategic partnerships and relationships with business partners to meet territory management performance requirements.

  • Determines viability of business partners based on customer needs, business needs and products.

  • Responds to requests from business partners and external sales within assigned territory, providing support materials such as illustrations, proposals and product/rider information. Addresses any questions or concerns the business partner may have regarding support materials.

  • Assists with case design, business consultations, product updates, training, product rollouts and point-of-sale consulting.

  • Contacts business partners to support of campaigns highlighting product features and benefits and advises business partners on pertinent sales ideas and solutions (i.e. new/old products, cross-selling opportunities, etc.).

  • Partners with external sales force to consult with business partners to grow their business. Advises on product and procedural modifications to meet the needs of the business partner or client.

  • Engages business partners to retain their business with Nationwide. Works to understand reasons for asset flight and advises alternative solutions for retention.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager and has no direct reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in human ecology, business, finance, communications, marketing or related field preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 licenses required. Associate must obtain the required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a sales-driven position. Experience in a sales or service call center environment preferred, as well as financial services background.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Fundamental knowledge of insurance and financial products and the associated consultative sales processes and industry knowledge preferred.  Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge and execution of the Teach / Tailor / Take Control elements of our consistent consultative sales process.

Must have a drive for results, demonstrate independent judgment and decision-making, ability for relationship building (both internally and externally), positive outlook, consultative selling/advising skills, ability and willingness to follow processes, good time management/organization skills, be receptive to coaching, have a strong customer focus orientation, ability to balance multiple priorities, and have excellent communication skills including professional presence, listening, rapport building, writing skills and presentation abilities.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

The national salary range for Sr Analyst, Regional Internal : $42,315.00-$82,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Sr Analyst, Regional Internal : $44,000.00 - $66,000.00
