Summary
Under general supervision, performs corporate accounting functions that support the monthly and quarterly accounting close process for selected locations and functional areas within the Owens & Minor domestic operations in the Products & Healthcare Services business unit. Interacts with business unit leadership and relevant department staff to ensure proper execution of accounting functions and the accurate reporting of financial results at the business unit level.
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall accuracy and completeness of accounting for assigned Distribution center locations and/or business unit(s). Prepares and delivers timely reporting to department and corporate leadership. Serves as primary liaison to assigned departments’ regarding financial results. Reviews/analyzes financial results for departments.
- Reviews margin trends at a customer level for anomalies in pricing, cost of goods sold and/or rebates claimed. Work with various financial operations teammates to identify erroneous information and adjust the financials for customer and/or vendor receivables or liabilities.
- Ensures close coordination with Department Leadership to ensure reporting meets their needs.
- Responsible for the overall accuracy and completeness of assigned expense accounting functions for the domestic organization (may include one or more of the following subject matter areas: customer incentives, supplier funding, inventory valuation, distribution expenses – warehouse, delivery, occupancy and/or leases).
- Reviews/analyzes financial results for administrative expenses for the company. Prepares variance analyses to budget, prior year, and expectations for assigned areas.
Qualifying Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Accounting or Finance required
- Two or more years of relevant public or corporate accounting experience required
- Strong accounting technical background (GAAP)
- Experience in Oracle Hyperion and MS Office Suite preferred
- Strong Analytic skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial audiences
- Ability to plan work for self and coordinate with others to meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
