Job Summary
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner advances the professional growth of nurses and interdisciplinary team members through the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based educational programs. Grounded in the ANPD standards of practice, this role supports orientation, competency management, continuing education, role transition, and professional role development. The NPD Practitioner collaborates across systems to foster lifelong learning, promote regulatory compliance, and drive improved patient care outcomes through quality and practice excellence initiatives.
Essential Functions:
  • Supports Orientation and Onboarding: - Partners in orientation and onboarding programs. - Ensures content aligns with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. - Facilitates access to resources. (20%)
  • Guidance-Based Competency Management: - Develops and manages initial and ongoing competency assessments. - Ensures compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. - Provides training for new technologies and procedures. (15%)
  • Education and Continuing Profession Development: - Conducts learning needs assessments and practice gap analyses. - Designs, implements, and evaluates educational programs using evidence-based practices. - Coordinates accredited continuing education offerings. - Leverages technology for innovative educational delivery. (20%)
  • Role Development: - Develops programs for role transitions, preceptor training, and leadership development. - Supports succession planning and career coaching. - Advises on academic progression and clinical advancement pathways. (10%)
  • Collaborative Partnerships: - Collaborates with interprofessional teams to support patient care and staff development. - Participates in councils, committees, and academic partnerships. - Supports excellence initiatives. (10%)
  • Inquiry & Quality Improvement: Participates in and supports evidence-based practice, and quality improvement projects. - Collects and analyzes data to inform process improvement and educational strategies. (10%)
  • Professional Competency & Ethics: - Maintains clinical and educational competencies. - Participates in peer reviews and professional development activities. - Upholds ethical standards and fosters a culture of respect and integrity. (10%)
  • Strategic Planning: - Contributes to the development of annual education strategic plans. - Identifies and addresses emerging educational needs. (5%)

Education:
  • Master's Degree Required

Work Experience:
  • 4-6 years clinical nursing experience Required
  • Experience in professional development, education, or leadership

Licenses:
  • RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
  • PROFRNBC-Nursing Professional Development Certification - ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • - Strong clinical knowledge and adult learning expertise.
    - Ability to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs.
    - Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
    - Familiarity with regulatory standards and quality improvement practices.
    - Excellent skills in working with Microsoft products and applications.
    - Knowledge and understanding of the operation of learning management systems.
