Job Summary
The Sourcing Specialist supports the organization's sourcing strategy by identifying, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and service. This role collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand sourcing needs, drive competitive bidding processes, and manage supplier relationships. The position operates with moderate independence and uses professional judgment to execute sourcing activities that contribute to operational efficiency and value creation.
Essential Functions
Lead sourcing events (RFIs/RFQs/RFPs) by gathering business requirements, prequalifying suppliers, managing bid cycles, and evaluating proposals to recommend optimal supplier selections that meet cost, quality, and service expectations
Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and contract redlines with suppliers in partnership with legal and business teams to secure favorable terms and mitigate risk
Develop and manage supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, continuous improvement discussions, and alignment to category strategies to support long term value creation
Analyze spend, market trends, and supplier risk indicators to identify sourcing opportunities, assess competitive landscapes, and inform category strategies
Execute contract lifecycle activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely routing of agreements while partnering with internal stakeholders for approvals
Coordinate supplier integration activities, ensuring smooth onboarding, alignment to service-level expectations, and adherence to procurement policies
Support cross-functional teams (Legal, Finance, HR, Operations) by providing sourcing insights, cost analyses, and supplier recommendations to enable informed decision-making
Ensure end-to-end procurement process compliance, including documentation accuracy and adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
Comply with Company and department policies and standards; performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related fields or equivalent education and/or experience
2 years experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain operations
Preferred Requirements
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and sourcing/procurement tools
Professional certification such as CPSM (ISM), APICS, or similar
Experience with supplier performance management and category strategy development
Exposure to corporate legal or contract lifecycle management platforms (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, Ironclad)
Direct Sourcing Specialty:
Experience managing direct spend categories (human generics, equipment, pharmaceuticals, sundery items, etc)
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to lead contract negotiations and manage redline cycles with suppliers and legal counsel
Strong analytical abilities with experience in spend analysis, data interpretation, and reporting
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Understanding of procurement processes, contract terms, supplier risk evaluation, and compliance requirements
Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and sound judgment when balancing cost, risk, and service levels
