Mission

We are seeking a highly skilled Forward Deployed Engineer to join our Public Sector team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge big data solutions for government clients. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of projects, from problem definition to deployment and optimization. You will design and implement end-to-end solutions, rapidly develop prototypes, and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

The impact you will have:

  • You will guide our public sector customers through successful implementations of big data projects on the Databricks platform
  • Gather customer requirements, design approaches, and collaborate with customers & SIs to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Conduct data integration, cleaning, and analysis
  • Develop custom applications and features on top of Databricks
  • Optimize and scale customer workflows and data pipelines
  • Collaborate with product development teams to represent customer needs
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to strategic customers
  • Architect production-level workloads, including performance testing and optimization
  • Contribute to the Databricks community through tutorials, training, and conference presentations

What we look for:

  • 6+ years of customer-facing technical experience
  • Professional experience equivalent to an L4 Software Engineer
  • Hands-on production experience with Apache Spark™
  • Expertise in big data technologies, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), and production programming (Python, R, Scala, or Java)
  • Strong understanding of data management, cloud platforms, data science, machine learning, and architecture
  • Ability to write production-grade code independently
  • Experience in architecting and implementing big data solutions
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship-building skills
  • This role may require up to 50% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TS SCI FSP clearance preferrable
  • Experience in public sector projects
  • Databricks certifications
  • Contributions to open-source projects

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above. $113,000$173,200 USD
