The Software Test Engineer III will lead or perform quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle for ICAM applications. The engineer will ensure application code, configurations, integrations, and functional changes are built and tested in non-production environments before promotion.
The role requires balanced experience with automated and manual testing. The candidate must be able to maintain testing, security-scanning, code-quality, and coverage gates in the CI/CD pipeline and validate functional, performance, security, and Section 508 conformance for each applicable release.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and perform quality assurance activities across the full SDLC.
Validate application changes in development, test, staging, or other non-production environments before production promotion.
Develop and maintain automated and manual test cases, scripts, suites, data, and evidence.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Maintain or support testing and quality gates using Selenium, SonarQube, Jenkins, and related tools.
Validate functional requirements and user-story acceptance criteria.
Perform or coordinate regression, integration, system, performance, and release testing.
Validate Section 508 conformance for releases containing applicable ICT or user-interface functionality.
Identify defects, document reproducible results, and work with engineers through resolution and retesting.
Review security scan and code-quality results as part of release readiness.
Monitor test coverage and recommend improvements to automated testing.
Support User Acceptance Testing when required by the federal customer.
Produce test plans, test scripts, test results, defect evidence, and release-quality documentation.
Support production incident analysis by validating fixes and regression impacts.
Required Qualifications:
Experience performing software quality assurance throughout the SDLC.
Experience combining automated testing with structured manual testing.
Experience developing and maintaining software test plans, scripts, cases, and results.
Experience testing software in non-production environments before release.
Experience with Selenium or a comparable automated functional testing tool.
Experience with Jenkins or comparable CI/CD pipeline tooling.
Experience with SonarQube or comparable code-quality/security-scanning tools.
Experience with functional, regression, integration, and release testing.
Experience validating Section 508 or accessibility requirements for software releases.
Ability to obtain and maintain favorable DHS EOD, suitability, and required system access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current DHS Trusted Tester certification.
Experience with WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA criteria.
Experience conducting performance or load testing for enterprise web applications.
Prior DHS, or other federal civilian testing experience.
Experience testing ICAM, IAM, SSO, PIV, PKI, PAM, access-management, or cybersecurity applications.
Experience with Jira, GitHub Enterprise, Java/Spring applications, Angular applications, MySQL, or containerized environments.
Experience supporting automated security, accessibility, and coverage gates in a federal DevSecOps pipeline.
