JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation’s war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today’s missions and tomorrow’s global challenges. For work specific to Colorado Springs, JT4 supports the National Space Test and Training Complex (NSTTC) – Electronic Domain portion of the range, predominantly consisting of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Orbital Warfare (OW) range environments.
Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties
Plans, conducts, and technically implements software engineering projects or major phases of software engineering projects, coordinating the efforts of supporting staff in the performance of work. This may include assisting with Project Management duties. Leads software development, testing, deployment, integration, documentation and maintenance in the support of customer requirements.
- Based on broad objectives from management and customers, independently analyzes, evaluates and integrates solutions to complex technical problems. Encourages optimum design within customer specifications, quality standards, schedule and funding limitations.
- Assists in formulating engineering project requirements to meet the customer’s needs and deadlines. Develops detailed implementation plans to execute and meet project requirements.
- Determines timelines for completing engineering projects, and reports to the Engineering & Integration Manager, Supervisor, and/or the Lead Software Engineer on the project’s status.
- Works closely with project management, hardware engineering, communications engineering, configuration management, quality assurance and operations support to ensure proper integration of software engineering with the other disciplines involved in the project.
- Designs, implements, tests, and deploys software projects.
- Provides technical guidance, mentoring, direction and assistance to other engineering team members.
- Reviews modifications to system software to ensure compatibility with existing hardware and software.
- Ability to solicit and document detailed product requirements; writes technical data packages in support of software development or modifications.
- Attends and facilitates meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to program in Golang, C#, and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience with Web Applications and Services toolsets (React, JavaScript/TypeScript, ASP).
- Experience with database development (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB).
- Experience with Docker and containerization
- Experience with message broker technologies such as NATS
- Experience using WebSockets.
- Experience using, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Experience with SNMP.
- Experience with UDP/TCP packet processing.
- Experience with Git and Github.
- Ability to deploy and troubleshoot network applications and systems.

- Experience with Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and Radio Frequency (RF) systems

- Knowledge and understanding of formal software development standards and software development processes to include the Software Capability Maturity Model.
- Knowledge and understanding of industry standard and government application security requirements.
- Ability to effectively interact with system users.
- Experience designing Windows and Linux applications and graphical user interfaces.
- Experience with Python.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Ability to perform system administration activities in Windows, Unix, and Linux operating system environments.
- Understanding of network switches and routers.
Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and eight years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in Engineering and a minimum of six years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum four years of related engineering experience are required for this position. Must obtain and maintain CompTIA, Security + Certification
In addition, an Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area
- Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
- Well-developed leadership skills
- Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
Salary
The expected salary range for this position is $103,000 to $163,000 annually.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.
Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
