Trucking runs on pen and paper or software built decades ago, and most carriers are stitching together a half-dozen tools that don't talk to each other. We're replacing all of it.
Toro is a modern, end-to-end TMS built specifically for asset-based carriers — the companies that own the trucks and employ the drivers. Load management, dispatch, driver pay, invoicing: one system. More loads moved. Invoices out the door faster. Drivers paid correctly and on time. This is what it means to run on Toro TMS.
About YouWe're looking for an Engineering Manager who loves to build — the team and the product. You'll be hands-on in the code and hands-on in growing the people around you, and you should be excited about both.
You'll join a small, scrappy Product Development org that holds a high bar for engineering excellence and product quality. If we're not proud of it, we don't ship it.
We treat product development as a team sport. Engineering, Product, and Design are equal partners here, and you'll work closely with your product and design counterparts to shape the what, the why, and the how of your team's roadmap. This isn't a role where the roadmap arrives finished and you staff it.
Full-time, fully remote, US-based.
How we work:- We're fanatical about understanding our domain and our users. Trucking is a complex, heterogenous industry, and we learn it deeply.
- We're scrappy but not hacky. We bias toward action without perfect information, ship small, ship fast, and learn quickly.
- We pair often and favor high-bandwidth communication over process. It's how we share context and make decisions faster.
- We figure out what needs doing and do it, asking questions when we need to.
- We bring discussions to a decision. Divergent thinking has its place, and so does closing the loop.
- Familiarity with with both Ruby on Rails and React
- Experience working in a remote-first environment
- 2+ years of direct management experience
- Ability and desire to build fast and ship features on a daily / weekly basis
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to take direction and feedback from senior team members
- Strong desire to learn about the trucking industry, meet with customers, learn about their businesses and workflows
- Empathy for users and teammates
- Permanent US work authorization
- Based in the United States
- You’ll have real scope and impact. A small org means the work you own is visible and the decisions you make will move the needle. There’s no layer between you and the thing that ships.
- You’ll talk to the people using the product. Our customers are the experts in their industry. We’re the experts in solving their problems. You’ll hear directly from dispatchers and back-office staff about what’s broken, and you’ll fix it.
- Comprehensive Benefits:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage to support your well-being
- Unlimited PTO to ensure work-life balance and provide flexibility
- 401(k) policy managed by Empower to help you plan for your future
