Kratos is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in a dynamic, agile environment in Colorado Springs, CO. This role implements a SecDevOps approach across the entire software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and operational support based on user feedback. The ideal candidate will work both independently and collaboratively to design, implement, and maintain software solutions while leveraging modern industry standards and providing clear status updates on design efforts. Key responsibilities include performing system integration to develop and deploy applications, as well as utilizing containerization tools like Kubernetes to manage and deploy services. Additionally, the role involves driving testing and automation by designing and maintaining automated test scripts within CI/CD pipelines and providing operational support through requirements verification, documentation, and troubleshooting in simulated environments.

Required Skills and Experience

  • BA/BS in STEM study
  • 7-10 years relevant, industry experience
  • Java and C/C++ programming (including network, multi-threaded, client-server programming where applicable) on Windows and Linux platforms
  • Batch File, Windows Script File, Unix Shell Scripting, Python Scripting
  • Basic understanding of relational database applications and creation of expressions using Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Ability to design solutions to complex engineering problems

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Platform Experience: Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes architecture
  • Domain Knowledge: Experience with satellite ground station processing (planning, ground control, data processing)
  • Languages/Tools: Python, GitLab/Azure DevOps, JIRA/Confluence
  • Testing: Functional, integration, regression, and performance testing expertise
  • Active Security Clearance
  • Certifications: RHCA, CKA, or CKAD
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps principles
