What the Role Is
The Software Engineering Manager, Registry will focus on Babylist's core product. You will lead the most critical initiatives to expand our registry capabilities, which are used and loved by millions of parents and gift-givers every month.
This highly cross-functional and visible role requires strong partnerships with teams like Growth, Shop, and Catalog. You will lead a team of 3+ experienced software engineers across mobile, web, and backend to consistently deliver high-quality features on ambitious timelines. We're looking for an influential and highly technical leader who excels at building and maintaining a culture of excellence and engagement. You will develop productive relationships with our CTO, engineering leaders, product teams, and stakeholders across the business. Your ultimate success will be building an adaptable, high-ownership team that can respond to the diverse challenges ahead.
Who You Are
- You have 1-3 years of experience as an Engineering Manager
- Before becoming a leader, you were a high-performing engineer with a successful track record of end-to-end software development of production systems
- You have experience building to a high product and design bar
- You have experience in experimentation and A/B testing, resulting in high-performing, well-loved tech products
- You're excited about building a team culture of excellence and have been actively developing your leadership skills more formally
- You’ve successfully led teams through growth and change, which means you know how to adapt and set and maintain standards for your team that scale with the business
- You are a great coach of engineers with experience developing talent and giving feedback
- You have an exceptional understanding of your team’s coding abilities and know when projects need extra support
- You have the experience to help the team make the right architectural decisions that balance business value and system stability
- You’re skilled at testing, monitoring, and running a production software system
- You have effectively collaborated with senior leadership to contribute to long-term planning
- You're comfortable and enthusiastic about working in an AI-forward environment where AI tools are part of daily operations

- Be accountable for your team. Help them ship high-quality software that meets the business needs
- Own communication across the product development team and company regarding key milestones, providing frequent, transparent updates on progress towards our goals
- Partner closely with product owners to design, implement, and deploy systems to support and scale our growing business

About Compensation
We use a market-based approach to compensation. The starting salary range for this role is:
US: $204,263 to $245,099
Canada: $210,600 to $263,300 CAD
Your starting salary will be based on your location, experience, and qualifications, with increases over time tied to performance, role growth, and internal pay equity.
