PetPlace, a subsidiary of IPH, is building a digital-first pet e-commerce platform that connects key market services such as adoption, lost pet, and insurance, making pet care more accessible and streamlined.

Job Summary:

PetPlace is seeking a Mid-level, Full Stack Web Developer to join our innovative team. Reporting to the Manager of Product Engineering Software, this role will be instrumental in building new digital products and enhancing our existing e-commerce platform. The ideal candidate is skilled in both front-end and back-end development, with a strong focus on React and Agile/Scaled Agile methodologies.

As part of the Product Engineering team, you will work closely with Product Management and UX to deliver scalable, user-friendly solutions. Your work will directly impact how pet parents interact with our services, helping us build a seamless, connected ecosystem.

  • Analyzes and modifies existing software as well as design, construct, and test end-user applications.
  • Participates in full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis and design.
  • Writes technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
  • Supports, maintains, and documents software functionality.
  • Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revise programs, as needed.
  • Participates in reviews to ensure the code is high quality based on reliability, efficiency, security, maintainability, and size.
  • Participates in agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and subject matter experts to clarify individual business requirements.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Technical Expertise

  • Proficiency in React, Node.js, and back-end frameworks (e.g., Express).
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
  • Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or MySQL.
  • Experience with Agile and Scaled Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Experience  

  • 3 year’s relevant experience

Education

Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (One-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college)
  • Associate’s Degree in a Technical Field
  • Certification in relevant focus area

Level Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Provides alternatives, if necessary, on clarification of business requirements.
  • Defines and develops software engineering effort on full range of applications based on business needs and requirements.
  • Generates artifacts, detailed designs, and necessary documentation to support the development of applications.
  • Shares knowledge regarding design principles, implementation techniques, emerging technologies, and trends.
  • Researches and identifies application opportunities around performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Works independently on moderately complex projects/assignments and seeks guidance on projects/assignments of higher complexity.
  • May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
