Internship Overview
This position is specifically designed to allow U.S. Military SkillBridge/Hiring Our Heroes internship candidates to apply for a Software Engineering internship with Radix Metasystems. Radix is not currently taking applications for college/university interns, but we hope to begin doing so in the future.
Our interns typically learn to become Software Developers & Engineers through training and mentorship by Radix Software Engineers. Radix customers require innovative solutions that meet ever evolving mission needs. In this role, the selected intern will be part of a talented team of mission focused engineers tasked with developing innovated and complex solutions while supporting the next generation of world class satellite ground systems.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design, develop, and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices supporting satellite ground planning and scheduling workflows
- Implement RESTful APIs and backend services aligned with defined system architecture and mission requirements
- Collaborate with systems engineers and domain experts to translate mission needs into technical solutions
- Support integration and test activities, including troubleshooting and defect resolution
- Participate in technical reviews, code reviews, and software audits
- Develop and maintain system interfaces (internal and external)
- Contribute to basic DevOps activities, including:
- GitLab repository management
- CI/CD pipeline usage and maintenance
- Supporting containerized deployments and environment configuration
- Follow secure software development practices within a classified environment

Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Able to pass an in-depth background investigation for the purpose of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret (minimum) security clearance issued by a U.S. Government Entity.
- Minimum 1-5 years of Software Development and Engineering, ideally using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the last few years.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience developing backend services and RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with Linux-based development environments
- Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD workflows (GitLab preferred)
- Working knowledge of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
- Ability to design, deploy and maintain complex software systems
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively work, and communicate, with engineers, systems teams, and leadership
- Technical Qualifications: AI, Python/Java/C++, Scripting and scripting languages, databases, Linux OS env using tools such as Git, Eclipse, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently active TS/SCI security clearance issued by a U.S. Government Entity
- U.S. Government Adjudicated Full-Scope or Counterintelligence polygraph
- Experience with planning and scheduling systems, mission management, or satellite ground operations
- Familiarity with microservice architectures and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Experience supporting software in an operational or mission-critical environment
- Background in intelligence community systems or space domain awareness
- Desired experience: AI/LLM Engineering, X-Midas, Digital Signal Processing
