SUMMARY:
Baylor Genetics, a prominent clinical genetic testing laboratory, offers an extensive array of genetic testing services to cater to the diverse needs of healthcare professionals and patients. Our expertise lies in delivering a comprehensive suite of diagnostic testing, carrier screening, prenatal testing, as well as cytogenetics and biochemistry tests. These services are instrumental in helping individuals and medical practitioners gain insights into genetic conditions, inherited disorders, chromosomal abnormalities, and other genetic factors that can impact health. Baylor Genetics is a pivotal player in supporting medical decision-making and furnishing individuals and families with invaluable genetic information.
We are seeking a data/software engineer with strong knowledge and hands-on experience in genetic knowledge management, data engineering, and software engineering to develop and maintain our comprehensive genetic knowledgebases. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect, engineer, and develop curation tools for our proprietary clinical insight knowledgebase as a part of our core data value proposition and integrate this knowledge into our clinical diagnostics workflows.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, a comparable program, or an equivalent qualification, with 3+ years of comprehensive experience in related field.
- Experience:
- Experience in Python, R, or C++.
- Experience in data ETL, data management, and data sharing for genomic and clinical applications, especially for next generation human sequencing data.
- Knowledgeable of database management systems in SQL database.
- Understanding of database architecture, design, and optimization.
- DevOps experience such as unit testing, CI/CD is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation and execution of data ETL, management and engineering.
- Development of user interfaces for curation and data maintenance tools based on user requirements.
- Enhance data and knowledge processing effectiveness and efficiency, and improve workflows for internal data analysis, interpretation, and clinical report writing in daily production clinical operations.
- Implementation of data models and software frameworks to effectively store and process data, information, and clinical insights. Utilized dog as a software framework.
- Monitor database performance and proactively optimize queries and processes for improved efficiency.
- Collaborates in a multidisciplinary and regulated clinical diagnostics environment with geneticists, bioinformaticians, software engineers, and IT infrastructure professionals.
