Life insurance is one of the world's most important products. It's also one of the hardest to build, distribute, and modernize. Bestow exists to change that.
Bestow is a leading vertical technology platform serving some of the largest and most innovative life insurers. Our platform unifies the fragmented, legacy value chain, enabling carriers to launch products in weeks instead of years. Carriers choose us to scale and operate at unprecedented speed, powered by AI and automation.
Bestow isn't selling policies. We're building the infrastructure that helps an entire industry move faster, reach more people, and deliver on its promise.
Backed by leading investors (Goldman Sachs, Hedosophia, NEA, Valar, 8VC) and trusted by major carriers, Bestow is powered by a team that moves with precision, purpose, and heart. If you want to help reimagine a centuries-old industry with lasting impact, join us.
Bestow offers flexible remote/hybrid work, meaningful benefits, equity, and substantial growth opportunities.

About the Team — Pre-Sales Tools
Pre-Sales Tools powers tools and experiences letting insurance agents and distribution partners quote, configure, submit applications before checkout. It's Bestow's B2B front door — if agents struggle here, they send leads elsewhere. Team has 8 engineers.
What You'll Do
Build and scale Go services powering agent quoting, configuration, application-submission tools used before checkout
Partner closely w/ App & Checkout teams given tight coupling between surfaces
Contribute to architectural discussions, bringing ideas and questions even as team's acting-EM situation leaves some direction-setting open
Resolve partner-specific edge cases as distribution partners and volume scale
Write unit and integration tests for code you ship; peer review code from others on team
Use AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) as default part of daily workflow — expectation, not bonus skill
Support knowledge transfer to team with high contractor ratio (Howdy), pairing and documenting as you go
Follow and help improve automation, CI/CD practices across team
Who You Are
3+ years professional backend software development experience
Professional experience with Go; comfortable owning services end to end
Experience with distributed systems or microservices, and designing APIs (REST, gRPC, OpenAPI, Protocol Buffers)
Experience using Docker for local development, and CI/CD as default practice
Demonstrated, day-to-day fluency using AI tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) in real engineering work — able to speak concretely about where they help and where they don't
Comfortable contributing to architectural discussions and picking up mentorship moments as they come, even without a formal title
Competencies
Go Backend Craftsmanship: Writes idiomatic, maintainable Go services; understands concurrency, error handling, package structure well enough to keep code healthy as it scales
System Design & Architecture: Designs components that hold up under growth, stay maintainable, fit Bestow's existing platform rather than fighting it
API Design: Designs clear, versioned APIs (REST/gRPC/OpenAPI) that internal teams and, where relevant, distribution partners can consume without guesswork
Testing & Quality Discipline: Writes unit and integration tests as default habit, not afterthought; catches edge cases before they reach production
AI-Augmented Engineering: Uses AI tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) as default part of daily engineering work — for code, tests, debugging, or design — while applying independent technical judgment to output
Cross-Team Collaboration: Works effectively across tightly coupled teams and partners, especially App & Checkout
Ownership & Bias for Action: Drives own issues to resolution, flags blockers early, helpful given team's current acting-EM gap
Debugging & Production Support: Diagnoses and resolves issues in previously delivered features methodically, under real production constraints
Communication Clarity: Explains technical tradeoffs in language that fits audience — engineers, PMs, non-technical partners
