YOUR MISSION

Software is the central nervous system for True Anomaly’s engineering and product thesis. Software bridges the gap between military objectives, theoretical astrodynamics and the human and autonomous control of spacecraft and ground systems in time and space. True Anomaly is seeking a highly-experienced Elixir Software Engineer to lead development of our distributed spacecraft ground control system. 

You do not need to have experience building space ground systems or experience in aerospace. You’ll have ownership of challenging, greenfield problems and a chance to fundamentally impact the outcome of future conflict (and the future of the company), all while enjoying world-class benefits including platinum healthcare, flexible work hours/location, highly competitive compensation and a generous stock options package. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and sustain satellite command and control, mission planning, mission data processing and data analysis software systems using Elixir 
  • Bring your voice to the table in team collaborations on architecture, design, and code reviews 
  • Interact and collaborate with engineers from various disciplines to create emergent results 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 4 years of Elixir software development experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar discipline or relevant experience 
  • Functional programming  experience in Elixir, Erlang, Clojure, Haskell, Ruby or F#
  • Proven experience developing resilient and fault-tolerant architecture 
  • Experience contributing to application development and maintenance, working on core features, bug fixes, and improvements within an existing production codebase (beyond simple scripts or test automation)
  • Foundational understanding of distributed systems concepts such as services, APIs, data flow, and basic reliability or scaling considerations
  • 2 year+ hands-on experience with at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Ruby), with the ability to write readable, maintainable application code
  • Exposure to the full application lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and basic debugging in a production or pre-production environment
  • U.S. Citizen and eligible for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Deep understanding of Elixir and OTP including BEAM scheduling, GenServers, run queues, and pg or the Actor model 
  • Experience with OAuth2 and role-based access controls 
  • Database experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL 
  • Experience with monitoring and tracing in a distributed system 
  • Experience working with real-time or game engine backends
  • 2 year+ hands-on experience with elixir
  • Deeper understanding of Elixir and OTP including BEAM scheduling, GenServers, run queues, and pg or the Actor model

COMPENSATION

  • Colorado Base Salary: $110,000 - $150,000
  • California Base Salary: $115,000 - $160,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave 

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work Location— Must be based near Denver or Long Beach. This role requires four days a week onsite with one day remote. 
  • Work environment—the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
  • Physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.
