We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-paced engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to building scalable, high-quality applications that power our consumer health insurance marketplace. You’ll be working across the stack—from architecting backend services to crafting modern, responsive UIs—delivering intuitive user experiences and robust integrations that support our mission to help individuals and families find affordable health

insurance plans.

This is a highly collaborative position, working closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, QA Engineers, and DevOps to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of features. You will also play a key role in contributing to technical decisions, code reviews, and improving system performance.

This is a fully remote role and the person can be located anywhere in the US, however they must be available to work PST hours (as late as 7 pm PST). 

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain scalable services and web applications using technologies like Node.js, React.js, Vue.js, and GraphQL
  • Translate UX mockups into accessible, mobile-friendly interfaces using modern CSS and JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Implement and consume REST and GraphQL APIs, ensuring performance and data integrity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to break down complex features into engineering tasks
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, component library design, and API schema development
  • Integrate third-party APIs and services to enhance application functionality
  • Apply best practices for frontend and backend performance optimization
  • Maintain awareness of security and privacy standards, especially in handling PII and PHI
  • Leverage tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor to enhance productivity and code quality
  • Demonstrate eHealth’s values in your behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience in full-stack web application development
  • Proficiency with JavaScript, Node.js, and at least one frontend framework (React.js, Vue.js, or Next.js)
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
  • Familiarity with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs• Strong grasp of core web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, ES6+, Git, npm/yarn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of microservices architecture and BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) patterns
  • Experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress
  • Experience CodeCanvas, PixelForge, and DesignDock
  • Comfortable working in cloud environments like AWS
  • Knowledge of frontend performance metrics (e.g., LCP, CLS) and performance debugging tools
  • Prior experience contributing to design systems or component libraries
  • Exposure to AI/ML APIs, automation, or personalization tools is a plus
  • Experience in agile environments with tools like JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub Actions

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
